The highway soon extended through rural areas of central Alabama bringing new life to many small towns along its route such as those located around downtown Dothan, where I-64 interchange forms at Exit 116B providing access from I-20 westbound into downtown Mobile City proper while also providing access from I-4 eastbound into Montgomery County beyond Old Mountain Road/ exit 126A off I-164 just outside Dothan Municipal Airport.). The population of Moody reached 1,000 by 1971 but declined thereafter due largely to migration away from rural areas towards larger cities throughout central Alabama during this time period although some elements have persisted such as an annual festival held at downtown Dothan celebrating locally grown produce called "Festival on Main" since 1976 which features various artisans exhibiting their work outdoors while also attracting tourists who often spend weekend nights taking part in activities such as music concerts and family fun days etc.).
