As a result, much activity occurred within both Department Of Defense (DoD) laboratories as well as universities across America during this time period with various firearms projects being undertaken including sniper rifles like the M1 Garand andifles such as ThompsonSubmachine Guns (TMGs). Consequently, it should come as no surprise that several famous rifles from this era were made here at Moody including those created by famed firearm manufacturer Colt Firearms Corporation under license from DoD; namely their Model 1 Garand Rifle and their Model 1911 Pistol . In fact, due to its prominent role within all these different firearm projects conducted within DoD over this timeframe, Moody has often been referred to simply as “the Arsenal” due to its importance within both government circles and civilian shooting communities alike
