Cabot is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,065 at the 2010 census. They named it for John Cabot, an Englishman who had explored North America and returned to England with two ships full of goods in 1596. In 1865 President Abraham Lincoln appointed him Collector of Internal Revenue for the Western District of Arkansas. From 1868 until his death in 1879 he represented Pulaski County on the State Board of Education; and from 1886 until 1890 he served as Mayor of Arkansas City (now known as Little Rock). A large number of residents east of Highway 6 were German American refugees brought overland by wagon trains during World War I who found work at various munitions plants near Pine Bluff and other towns within Pulaski County; this concentration led to the erroneous belief that Cabot was responsible for helping arm World War I soldiers from eastern Pulaski County
