In 1906, Jepson Whitehead bought 350 acres (1 km2) of land adjacent to what is now Russellville Cemetery from Pemberton Browning Harriman for $10 per acre ($ million at current prices). He began construction on what would eventually become known as Whitehead's Mill; this mill would produce flour for local consumption and also supply mills throughout Great Britain and Europe with raw cottonseed ground into flour before it shipped abroad In 1907 Whitehead donated another 350 acres (1 km2) of land to help build an important railroad junction just outside of town; this donation allowed many people living near Russellville access to goods carried eastward by the railway.
