Brentwood is located on the eastern edge of the city of Los Angeles and is bordered by Beverly Hills to the east, Westwood to the north, Century City to the west and its namesake Brentwood park and shopping center to the south. The first people who lived in what is now Brentwood were Native Americans who hunted game in present-day Brentwood Canyon. A mission was established there in 1821 by Father Pedro Arguelles.
