This was especially true for weaponsmiths and gun dealers who could benefit from new technology. One of the most prominent firearm dealers in Brentwood during this time was those run by George W. Cooksey. Cooksey was known for his innovative designs and salesmanship, which helped him become one of the biggest names in the industry. Cooksey's store first opened its doors on December 2, 1892. It was located at 10th and Elm Streets in Brentwood, just blocks away from where today's hotels stand. The shop quickly became well-known for its high quality products and satisfied customers. Many famous people such as Actor/director Cecil B DeMille came into contact with Cooksey during this time, helping to spread his brand around the country. The years following World War I were difficult for many businesses in Brentwood; however, Cooksey's Store wasn't affected any differently than any other business that sold firearms during that time period. However, due to growing demand for firearms over the years and changes inortment at gun shows (which now require a government issued license), Cooksey's store had to start charging more for their products ca 1907 or so when Laws changedregarding permits to sell handguns without prior training or testing by an NRA member ( National Firearms Act). Despite these challenges, Cooksey continued selling his products until he died on May 5th 1955 at age 97 years old; still one of America’s most successfulgun dealers before enactment of Second Amendment Protection Act in 1968

The history of Brentwood begins with early pioneers who arrived in Southern California during the Gold Rush era in 1851. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Los Angeles County were Scots-Irish immigrants from Ireland who set up camp near Pasadena on January 8, 1851 under the name "Brentford". They were joined by other Irish immigrants soon after and began trading goods and services for land east of Monterey Street along the Santa Monica River. Soon they had established a thriving farming community that grew rapidly due to its fertile soil and strategic location within easy access to shipment points for crops such as apples and grapes. By 1870 their farm had 4 miles (6 km) of road leading into it plus another mile (1 km) path leading out to serve their growing town which they named Brentwood Manor after their home countryman Sir John Ayer Bristowe (1768–1852). On December 3rd, 1871, spurred on by concerns about wild animals attacking people living near downtown LOS ANGELES – including children playing outside – Mayor James WOODRUFF ordered all businesses within three blocks northward of City Hall closed until dark because “the safety and well-being” of residents there could not be guaranteed at that time! This order came just two days before Christmas when many families were struggling to get through the holiday season without money or presents from family members back home! Brentwood quickly became an agricultural center with significant production of apples, grapes, grapeseed oil, and cereals; however it was also pivotal during this time for South Gate Airport which served both LOS ANGELES AND BURLINGTON COUNTY until 1923 when it was transferred to nearby Hollywood Boulevard! With its busy airport business came increased population growth due mainly to workers commuting into southern CA for jobs opportunities acrossLOS ANGELES COUNTY while also enjoying peaceable accessNIKKI WILSON & HER TWO Daughters opened their Own Store Downtown n 1898 ! You can still see some original store fixtures today like The Piano Shop front window where owner Mrs Wilson played daily tunes on her piano from her storefront! During World War II Brentwood helped support America through its massive production efforts supplying munitions for war effort such as aluminum cans filled with explosives used in destroying enemy positions around North Africa; nevertheless when war ended things slowly slowed down for everyone as most factories went back into normal operations again Thank you Veterans For Your Service !!! Afterward many young couples married here while continuing their careers/families moved away but ultimately left behind memories OF THEIR FIRST HOME IN THIS GREAT CITY OF BRENTWOOD !!!
