Scope mounts were developed in Chino Hills, California during the late 1800s. The first scope mounts were designed to attach to rifles using a swivel stud on the back of the mount and a nut on the front of the mount. These mounts allowed shooters to easily pan and tilt their rifles while hunting. Over time, Scope Mounts evolved into what we know today. The first expandable mounts, called "Chino Hills Cables", were developed in the early 1990s by a group of engineers at Northwest Cable Company. The original Chino Hills Cables were fashioned from structural steel tubing and consisted of two sets of four cable hangers that could be rotated to provide an adjustable viewing angle. In 1996, Northwest Cable Company merged with Western Digital Corporation and the company changed its name to Western Digital Chino Hills. In 2003, Western Digital Chino Hills bought out Northwest Cable Company's share in the company for $145 million. In 2007, Western Digital Chino Hills discontinued production of the Chino Hills Cables and replaced them with new Expandable Mounts products which use metal tube construction and are designed to be flexible and adaptable to various mounting applications.
Chino Hills is a town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 381 at the 2010 census. It is located on the eastern edge of Kern County and bordered by Bakersfield to the south and east, Porterville to the north, andvinton to the west. According to the United States Census Bureau, Chino Hills has a total area of , of which is land and (0.9%) is water. The first people arrived in what is now Chino Hills about 10,000 years ago. A group of Native Americans called themselves Yokuts because they were mainly settled near Yosemite National Park in central California. In 1853, Rancho San Francisco de las Pulgas was founded by Father Junipero Serra and his family on what are now Chino Hills Road and Indian School Road. The name "Chino" means "flat place" or "sweet pepper". In 1892 an act of Congress created Kern County as part of southern Californias newly formed state government; Chino Hills was included within it as part of Humboldt Park Township. The community slowly grew up around small schools until a high school opened in 1939; that same year saw the opening of First Baptist Church which continues to be one of the town's most important religious organizations today. From then on until 1975 there was only one school district: Kern Valley Unified School District #5A-D). When KVUSD merged with other districts in 1994 it left Chino Hills with three unified schools - Alta Loma Elementary (Kern Valley), Canyon Crest Middle (Porterville) and Vista Terrace High School (Vinton). As a result, all but two residents attended those three schools through ninth grade before moving into Villa Rica Elementary/Middle School which opened in 1999 after much voter demand from homeowners living near each other who no longer had access to good public education for their childrens' ages 6-8 due to consolidation across several districts in that area during that time period also known as “The Great Local Consolidation” initiative by then Superintendent Tom Ziegler

Chino Hills is a city in Southern California, United States. The population was 70,827 at the 2010 Census. It is the most populous city in San Bernardino County and has been surpassed only by Riverside as the most populous city in Orange County. The name of the city comes from Chino Creek which flows through it. The history of Chino Hills begins with Rancho Niguel land grant given to Juan Bautista Alvarado by Spain in 1795. Mexican land grants followed throughout much of what is now Los Angeles County until 1846 when Mexico ceded all but a small corner of Los Angeles County to the United States following their war with Mexico over independence from Spain. In 1871, part of Chino Hills was annexed to Riverside City Limits while other parts were annexed to San Bernardino City Limits on March 15, 1912. In 1915, Chino Hills became one of six cities included within newly formed Riverside County when it was established as a result of Proposition 8 (the yes vote on November 5th, 1996, making California an open-ended party state), which also added portions of Fullerton and Diamond Bar to that county. This move increased the population density in southeastern Riverside County by 50%. Today, Chino Hills forms part of Irvine Spectrum . On July 14th, 1954 at 10:00pm local time (), locals reported seeing unidentified flying objects near their town center - which they would later identify as an Air Force RC-4A reconnaissance plane flown by Lt Col Kenneth Arnold (). Arnold had discovered nearby Mulholland Air Force Base and wanted to document any UFOs present there before turning them over to authorities. After his sighting(), many residents began reporting similar sightings around town every night for weeks upon weeks; some even claimed they had seen Arnold himself fly overhead on one occasion! It wasn't until 1987 when someone could finally track down Generous Arnolds home address that authorities were able to confirm his claim and close down Mulholland AFB for safety reasons

After the war, Chino Hills grew rapidly as white suburbanites moved into its expanding neighborhoods. The city's population reached 100,000 by 1970 but has declined since then due to numerous other factors including migration from rural areas to downtown Chino Hills and suburban development around it
