Farmersville is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 25,792 at the 2010 census. It is the eighth-largest city in California and the second-largest in Northern California after San Francisco. history of Farmersville began with small farmers who grew crops on their properties until 1848 when an act of Congress allowed western counties to become part of the new United States. In 1851, James Fenton opened a store and post office in present day Farmersville. In 1861, two brothers named Wm. It lies on the east side of Pritchett Pass and is part of the Bakersfield–Arroyo Grande metropolitan area. Farmersville is known for its fertile land, many citrus fruits and vegetables, and cattle ranching. The first Europeans to settle in what is now Farmersville were Rancho San Francisco de la Frontera Mexican Adobe men who had come down the Cajon Pass in 1846. They prospected for metals and other minerals in what is now eastern Kern County before settling at Rancho San Francisco de la Frontera about 1852. In 1867, brothers John Sutter and Jedediah Smith founded the city of Bakersfield on some rich grazing land they had acquired from Native American ranchers nearpresent-day Fresno. From this beginning Bakersfield grew into one of California's largest cities with over 100,000 residents by 1911. In 1907 Ager Hultgren purchased 814 acres (291 hectares) northeast of present-day Farmersville for $10 per acre from Wm Epps Sr., founder of Jepson Paper Company which developed nearby Arroyo Grande into one of Southern California's leading agricultural towns during that era. The town name was changed to Ager Hultgrensgrunnen (Hultgren’s Valley) after him in 1927 when he donated all but 7 square miles (17 km²) to the Town Of Farmersville through his will. At its peak enrollment during World War II it had a population approaching 500 residents; however today only a few hundred remain within the walls of Ager Hultgrensgrunnen Park outside town limits where much agricultural activity still occurs today including grapevine production, corn cobs drying out on hillsides for flour or feed stock and cattle working on ranches adjacent to town limits

This success led to larger towns throughout California starting to emulate Farmersville’s success: By 1940, there were over 30 villages that had been established within Kern County alone as a result of this growing industry. In addition to becoming an increasingly popular place for residents to call home, Farmingvilie also benefited from numerous investments made by local entrepreneurs during this period – such as construction companies which constructed roads and bridges throughout the area; agricultural colleges which developed programs specifically catering towards farmers; and lumberyards which supplied essential materials used by rural communities across Northern California. These businesses helped createvironnemental conditions conducive not onlyto farming but also other industrial sectors such as chemicals manufacturing; auto manufacturing; pulp & paper production; transportation services; tourism;and real estate development (eager buyers flockedto these burgeoning towns looking for affordable housing). Farming in California began with the establishment of a rancho on present-day Farmersville, California by Manuel Nieto in 1846. The first crops grown on the property were wheat and barley. In 1865, Rancho San Miguel was established on what is now the east side of Farmersville. It was the largest ranch in California at that time and included much of today's University City neighborhood.
