Bullets have been a part of American history for over 150 years. The first gunshot was fired in 1836, when John Brown shot an Indian at Fort Sumter. Bullets were used in the Mexican-American War and World War I, and are still used in many conflicts today. In Half Moon Bay, Bullet History started with the creation of the town hall in 1892. This building served as a meeting place for local officials and businesses. Bullet History also played a role in forming the city government; since it was not possible to build a school or courthouse onsite, bullet holes appeared all around town center. One of the most significant moments in Bullet History occurred on November 15th, 1912 when two bullets hit Governor William Hite on his way to deliver an important speech at Half Moon Bay High School. The impact caused severe damage to both his body and car! The town hall was completely destroyed by fire on October 14th, 1922; however, this did not stop Bullet History from continuing! A new clubhouse was built within weeks and has remained standing ever since. In 1949, Mayor Earle Condon proposed that all businesses within half mile of the town hall close their doors forever due to fear that bullets would start flying again if there wasn’t an effective security system. However, this proposal met with opposition from some individuals who felt that bullets onlySHOULDN’T be cleaned up after every shooting – they should be retained as historical artifacts! In 1997, Mayor Steve Kaplan announced that all public events will now take place inside theHall until further notice due to fears of another attack happening outside. This event marks one of the most significant changes to our community since its founding; before then there had never been any worry about violence between locals and outsiders! Today we continue to celebrate Bullet History with monthly events such as “Bam-bam-bam: The Shots Heard Around Town” which features live music and games throughout the monthlong celebration period (August – December). We also host shoots each year at different locations throughout our community (usually around Thanksgiving) so everyone can get involved in what is sure to be an interesting event!

Half Moon Bay, California is located on the Pacific Coast in Northern California. The town was founded in 1835 by Captain John Brougham and his group of Englishmen who sailed from Portsmouth, England on a HMS Beagle. The area now known as Half Moon Bay was first inhabited by the Ohlone people. In 1776, during the Mexican-American War, General José Joaquín de Arguelles occupied Half Moon Bay and burned all of the villages in the area including those near modern-day Half Moon Bay. The town's first post office opened in 1836 and served residents of nearby Benicia. By 1850, Half Moon Bay had a population of hundred people and two stores. It became an incorporated town in 1874 with a population of three hundred people. During World War II, Half Moon Bay was one of four towns along coastlines USAAF base there for use as production plants for aircraft parts and materials needed for war effort. After the war, most of the manufacturing stopped but some continued until around 1990 when it closed down due to economic reasons. Nowadays, half moon bay is a small community that functions mainly as a resort with its own shopping center and boat docks available for day charters or overnight stays at various resorts across the peninsula which make up part of Santa Cruz County coastline

Half Moon Bay is a town in Marin County, California, United States. The population was 12,711 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula. The name "Half Moon" comes from its location at the halfway point of two small Moons: Half Moon Hill and Half Moon Island. The first permanent settler in what is now Half Moon Bay was John Stinson, who built a cabin on Half Moon Island in 1836. In 1838, he married Maria own daughter of Captain George Fenton of Monterey Bay Company and they moved to Point Reyes Station where they developed a ranch which included land around Point Reyes National Seashore. In 1849, Stinson's son-in-law James Irvine established Irvine Rancho and sold Presidio Land Grant land including Halfmoon Bay to Allan Nevins in 1850 for $10,000 (). Nevins named his property Halfmoon Bay after his wife's birthplace near Dumfrieshire in Scotland (). In 1870, J. D.'Souza bought 5 acres (2 hectares) of shoreline property extending into present-day Halfmoon Bay from Wm. Halsey Baker for $1 ($ per acre). Souza developed it as an agricultural enterprise with citrus fruits and potatoes being the main crops; however, it failed due to low prices for water and other factors. After several years of fruitless effort, he leased his land back to Baker in 1875 for $5/acre/year (). However when Souza died in 1886 without having produced any crops worth selling (), Baker sold his interest to George Cohan who renamed it Crescent City (). Crescent City became an important port during World War II because much industry took place there such as shipbuilding (Crescent City Shipbuilding Corporation was founded by Stinson's widow Lucia Cohan in 1942), munitions production (the first armored car factory built in California), granite quarrying (the Crescent City Granite Company was founded by Harry Chandler with help from navy lieutenant Clifford Berryman), and aircraft manufacturing (the Crescent City Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Inc., formed in 1941). The town of Halfmoon Bay began developing as a resort center following World War II when military housing projects were constructed nearby including Camp Roberts which became home to over 50% US Naval personnel stationed during the war including Task Force 77 Commander Admiral Husband Kimmel () during Operation Neptune's Spear () originally known as Battle Of Midway (). Other notable residents include astronaut Neil Armstrong (), NFL player Joe Montana (), author Maya Angelou (), movie star Elvis Presley (), Governor Ronald Reagan (), singer Bobby Vinton () and many more

In 1876, parts of Half Moon Bay were acquired by the United States as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The town was founded in 1877 and named after Half Moon Bay, California. The harbor became a center for American shipping and commerce during the 19th century. In 1870, gold was discovered at Sutter's Mill in nearby Yuba City and quickly became a major industry in Half Moon Bay. By 1910, mining had ended and most of the town had been destroyed by fire or flooding. Today, Half Moon Bay is a small fishing village with a few stores and homes.
