There are several restaurants such as Pizza place (which offers delivery), Chinese restaurant (the best food I've ever had), Mexican restaurant (good food) and several convenience stores which include an ice cream shop (not my favorite). One interesting fact about Imperial Beach is that it has been home to both American and Japanese forces during World War II. During World War II Ulysses S Grant Park was built in honor of General Grant nearby which included beaches where soldiers could sunbathe or play beach volleyball while still wearing their uniforms which gave the area its nickname "Beach City USA".

Imperial Beach, California is a town in San Diego County, California, United States. The population was 11,396 at the 2010 census. It was announced on July 1, 2009 by Mayor Jerry Sanders that Imperial Beach would be moving to an all-time high growth rate for its size with the goal of reaching 30,000 residents by 2020. The town began as a small community on the southern tip of San Diego County. In 1887 it became part of the newly created County of San Luis Obispo and was named after Emperor Pedro II of Brazil's protectorate over southern California. In 1914 Imperial Beach became an incorporated city and adopted its current name. In 1925 when Valley View Airport opened and made it possible for businesses in Imperial Beach to market their products directly to consumers instead of having to go through local wholesalers, the city quickly become successful in becoming an airport major center with numerous offices and shops catering to both locals and tourists alike. In 1957 Imperial Beach annexed National City which had been founded in 1886 as a small Indian reservation near what is now Fallbrook Village because Valley View Airport prohibited commercial development within one mile (1 kilometer). In 1959 areas west of Interstate 5 were developed into Encinitas while east of I-5 were developed into Cerritos Combined Statistical Area. At first this area included only the portions west of I-5 and north of Highway 101 extending from Santa Monica Boulevard southward to just past Casey Road; however this boundaries were changed in 1990 due to annexation by Cerritos along with much other territory within San Diego County during Proposition 207 campaign organized by then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani. As a result much older communities such as Roscoe Park (now Lemon Grove) were also annexed including parts located between I-5 and State Route 163 (present day Santee Avenue) making it difficult for people who’ve lived there their entire lives not know where they are situated geographically speaking outside their neighborhoods or even squares mile sizes inside cities limits!

In 1821, the United States acquired California from Spain, and the name Imperial Beach was given to it in honor of Emperor Pedro II of Mexico. The first post office in Imperial Beach was established in 1865, and it operated until 1902. In that year, the town became a city under the jurisdiction of Los Angeles County. The population of Imperial Beach increased from 1,100 to 27,000 during World War II as a result of military production and shipbuilding activities. During that time, many industries developed in the area such as aircraft manufacturing and shipbuilding. After the war ended, imperial beach experienced a decline because many factories closed down and jobs were lost due to economic recession. However, since 2000s there has been an increase in development around downtown as well as new businesses being opened up that have causedrb a rebirth for this district
