The restored old Mill House can be visited during regular business hours or by reservation only through special events (www.millvalleyhistoricplace.org). Open day tours are also available from mid-March until December when all exhibits are open daily 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; admission is free unless otherwise noted; there are also variety shows every night from late March until early November inclusive; winteropenings are typically Friday evening from 6 p.m.–10 p.m.(admission $7), Saturday morning from 8 a .m.–12 p . m .(admission $10), Sunday afternoon from 2–4 p . m (admission $12), closed Mondays since 1865; Christmas Day is open noon to 4 pm with no admission fees charged except for lunchtime closedesserts which are sold separately at one table inside living room Available year round: spring break weekdays 8 a . m.-1 p . m ."

Mill Valley is a small town located in northern California, about midway between Sacramento and San Francisco. Situated on the banks of the Mill River, it was founded by Hemanus Mills in 1853 as an agricultural village. The townsite was named for John Sutter, who arrived in 1849 and built the first mill on the river. The mills initially produced flour, but soon began to produce other goods such as denim, cottonseed oil and shoe leather. In 1916, when California became a state, Mill Valley became part of San Mateo County. Although most of its economic activity has disappeared since then (except for a few sketchy businesses), the town remains an important cultural center for Northern California. Mill Valley is known for its annual Christmas parade which includes floats made from all sorts of materials found around town - old clothes and shoes from stores closed down during the Recession; toy cars and planes from local children's libraries; even some recycled materials like cans and bottle caps! The parade starts at 4:00pm Saturday near downtown Mill Valley and ends up at Sansome Park where they have a live orchestra playing Christmas music all night long!
The mill on the Mill Valley River was first built in 1847 by James Fenton. The mill produced flour, soap, and other products for local markets. In 1861, the mill was purchased by George Stephenson and renamed his Stephenson Mills. In 1916, the mills were sold to the United States Steel Corporation and became part of their Pittsburgh-based steel empire. The mills closed in 1979 after a major renovation. Today, the site is home to a museum dedicated to milling history and technology.
