At this time, most commerce took place by wagon train overland from Stockton or Fresno County because there were no railroad connections between these two towns at this time! On February 3rd 1870 Milford Drysdale married Ethel Lillie McConnell who had been born December 12th 1864 in San Jose into a wealthy family associated with ranching interests near Upland Station just east of present day Santa Clara County line south Of Menlo Park . They moved into their current home which they purchased from Dr John Fenton around 1912 . Mrs Drysdale died suddenly after giving birth to their only child , Anna Mae Drysdale Fenton on October 16th 1913 while she awaited delivery outside her home by ambulancevia horseback ride following her husband's orders not to allow anyone inside her home while she delivered because there may have been danger posed if something happened outside ! Their son David also died soon afterwards after being born with severe convulsions !! Mr & Mrs Drysdale buried their three children together beneath a large oak tree near their home prior to moving into their current house which they purchased from Dr John Fenton around 1912
