The town of Palmdale, California was founded in 1881 by Augustus P. Earp and his wife Anna Maria. The Earps were the first residents of what is now Palmdale. In 1907, the town became a city with a population of over 100,000 people.

The name "Palo Alto" was given to it in 1868 by Captain John C. Fremont when he noted that there were many Palo Altos in San Francisco Bay. The downtown core of Palmdale contains a mix of Victorian and Art Deco architecture from the early 20th century up through the 1960s. It is also home to the city's only shopping mall, which opened in 1978 and contains over 150 stores and restaurants. Other attractions include two large music festivals each year (the Santa Clarita Folk Festival in January and July and the Monterey International Popfest in May), a amusement park called Topanga Canyon Racetrack, several golf courses such as Mission Hills Country Club, a library system with more than 25 million books checked out per month, plus dozens of small businesses. The town developed slowly but steadily over time because it had access to good water resources, railroad transportation, and easy access to markets for crops and goods necessary for life on a rancho fulltime basis. By 1910 Palmdale had about 350 residents; by 1940 it had 1,000; by 1950 it had 5,000; by 1970 it had 10,000; by 1990 it had 25,000 residents living within its boundaries - an increase rate of nearly 50% over that period! Today PALMDALE continues to grow at an exponential rate - reaching 100K residential + jobs+ industry+ services+ new homes this past decade alone!

Palmdale is a city located in the central region of Ventura County, California. As of the 2010 census, its population was 56,711. The Palmdale area has been inhabited by various cultures since pre-historic times. Pre- missions and mission days were noted as eventful days in this area with Indian traders coming to trade goods and knowledge with the Spanish Missionaries. The first large ranching operation in this area was started by John Sutter in 1853. In 1877, one of the largest oil fields in Southern California was discovered at Palmdale Rancho Seco by Humble Oilman David Dixon Price. By 1910, the City had reached 100,000 residents and boasted several factories including Ford Motor Company which built its first plant here in 1911. The early years of 20th century were not kind to Palmdale’s economy however it bounced back during World War II when war production increased due to new technology found from Japan during that time period called “car engines” or “bombers” because they could be produced quickly on small lots like these chaparral covered hillsides near Lancaster Lake. After 1945 most manufacturing shifted offshore where jobs were created for engineers and other technical experts who designed and built new products for American industry during that time period such as jet aircraft manufacturers Boeing Aircraft Corporation and Lockheed Martin Aircraft Company etc., along with some jobs gained through contraction of industries such as local paper manufacture which went into decline following WWII until being rescued by Korean War era defense contractor McDonnell Douglas Corporation who invested heavily here before eventually shutting down their Lancaster facility completely within a few years after Korean War ended leaving many jobless men behind with little hope for future employment opportunities outside of military work until current day redevelopment efforts bring much needed economic development back to town including high tech companies such as Intel Xeon Processor Manufacturing Facility (formerly AMD) , Tesla Motors Inc., Philips Lighting Inc., Johnson Controls Incorporated among others Today Palmdale is a thriving center for high tech businesses with several Fortune 500 companies headquartered here including Apple Incorporation; Google LLC; Facebook; Twitter; Salesforce.; Oracle Corporation according to Forbes magazine's 2016 list of America's fastest growing cities In 1850, John Sutter founded Sutter Ranch east of present day downtown Palmdale when he bought 160 acres from Manuel Nieto de la Cruz y Ulloa near Lancaster Lake reservoir watershed boundary line - land now part of Northridge . For more than 50 years Sutter ran a successful cattle ranch that yielded over $2 million per year from exports alone primarily to markets across North America . The Palmdale post office was established in 1907 and served the community of Palmdale until it closed in 1963. The town of Palmdale was founded in 1903 by developers who named it after their hometown of Palmerdale, England. The original town consisted of only a few hundred people and had no industry other than agriculture. The town rapidly grew with the arrival of the railroad and its associated businesses, which led to a significant increase in population during World War II. In 1951, the city annexed the rural communities of Paradise Valley and Mount Laurel. In 1957, the city annexed the small community of Villa Park to become one of its most populous areas. Today, Villa Park is home to many large corporations such as Googleplex and Apple Inc.. In 1965,Palmdale voters approved a $215 million bond issue that funded new roads, schools, water systems, etc., making it one of California's most developed cities at that time. In 1973, Mayor Jerry Brown announced his candidacy for governor and won election against incumbent Dan Quayle. During his term as mayor (1974-1978), Brown increased funding for public transportation while also developing a quality control program for municipal contracts that helped improve quality throughout San Francisco County
