Laughlin developed an innovative design for a handgun safe that would later become known as the “Laughlin Safe”. The first Laughlin Safes were created in the early 1920s and they were used by local businessmen and police officers alike. Thesafe was designed specifically for handguns and it featured four solid walls made of bronze-colored steel plates that could withstand serious damage should someone tryto steal your firearm (although this hasn’t actually happened yet). The Laughlin Safes remained popular until around 1970 when they began becoming harder and less accessible due largelyto technological advancements (the advent of electronic locks and other security features). However, some remain operational today thanks to donations from individuals who are interested in preserving old technology

In the early 1800s, San Buenaventura Ventura was a small town located in Orange County. It was known for its vineyards and for being one of the most important wine-producing areas in California. A new post office was built on October 15, 1886 by American citizens to serve residents of Englishman's Point Colony that had been founded around Cahuenga Pass in 1875. The name "Newport" was chosen for the new post office because it seemed like waters that lay off San Pedro Bay would be part of the future community. The first mayor of San Buenaventura was José Miguel Márquez y Sánchez from 1912 to 1916; he succeeded Francisco Martinez after Martinez' election as governor of California during World War I. In 1922 Mayor Manuel García Montoya appointed James Fenton Vice Mayor with responsibility for public works and parks and also became head of the Municipal Planning Board which directed planning activities including zoning regulations for businesses and residences within each ward or vecindad (borough). Fenton served until his death in 1958; his widow continued to serve until her death in 1984. In 1951 two brothers bought land east of downtown from Juan Agustín Zamora and opened what became known as Zamora's Park which includes buildings housing local government offices now used by United States Customs Service Field Operations Branch Headquarters & Annexes since 1985. In 1959 Don Enrique Nieto purchased property south of town from Zamora for $1 million plus improvements including a shopping center, water supply system, baseball diamonds, movie theater complex and other residential developments over time adding additional shops facades to many old structures such as Playland Theater (1949), Masonic Temple (1951), Sanitarium (1957) & Pacific Coast Highway School District Administrative Office Building (1964). This area today known as Downtown has become home to large hotels such as Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel & Tower Resort etc., additionally restaurants/cafés La Presea Mercaderia Bakery/Cafeteria Azteca Grill suya Bodegas Llc., Ronald McDonald House Charities USA Inc., Stonington Presbyterian Church / Evangelist Lutheran Church - Southland USA Inc., Holy Name Catholic Parish Complex / Immaculate Conception Parish School

In 1529, Spanish explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo discovered San Buenaventura Ventura in the present day Ventura County. The first European settlement at the site was by Father Luis de Monterey who built a mission there in 1769. In 1821, Mexico City was founded and the area became part of that city. The name "Ventura" was given to the entire county by Major General José Joaquin Cámpora y Guerra on October 25, 1824.
