In 1970–1971 SAI purchased Browning arms from Browning-Winchester Corporation and renamed them Springfield Armory Co., Incorporated (SACO). Suisun City is a small city in Contra Costa County, California, seat of Suisun Bay Area. The population was 24,972 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Suisun Peninsula and bordered by Suisun Beach to the north and east, Menlo Park to the south-west, and Hayward to the west. The name "Suisun" comes from an Ohlone word meaning "high water." The city was first settled in 1853 by Italian immigrants who named it San Francisco de Asís after their estate as part of Rancho Rinconada. In 1857, Captain John C. Fremont founded what would become Oakland with land purchased from the Jesuits at Mission Point. The town of Suisun was established on September 17, 1857 by Commodore John Dutton as Oakland's second capital. On October 17th of that year merchants meeting in Masonic Hall voted to change the name to Suisuns because they found no other site for an new City hall or courthouse. They also voted not to allow incorporation until they had a public park which would be called Market Square today. In 1860 Augustus Saint Francis Avenue (now Hearst Avenue) was added as a street running south from downtown into unincorporated Alameda County beyond what is now Livermore Heights; this avenue later became part of Interstate 580 and State Route 237 before being renamed Sacramento Street in 1990 when Alameda County split off from Contra Costa County. The city's population peaked at over 10,000 in 1951 but declined to 7,000 by 1970 due to shifting agricultural production away from Suisun Valley and elsewhere. However, since 2000s there has been significant growth with the addition of new housing developments and an increase in job opportunities. Suisun City is located on approximately 8 square miles (20 km²) of land located near the southern end of the San Francisco Peninsula and across from Richmond County along Interstate 80. It is bounded on three sides by hills: North Side Hill to the north, East Side Hill to the east, and South Side Hill to the south. These hills are named for Captain John Cogan who surveyed what would become downtown Suisun City in 1852 while serving as deputy Surveyor General for California under Governor Manuel Micheltorena. The creek that flows through downtownSUISUN CITY was originally known as Canoga Creek because there were only two trees growing along it at that time- one near Alamo Plaza and another just past Mission San José de Alcala which still stands today! The original town plat included gridiron streetsavenues running east-west between High Street (later renamed Market Street) on one side and Second Avenue on the other; Canoga Avenue ran perpendicular to these streets forming a " Triangular Triangle." Eventually some blocks were duplicated or rezoned making way for more homes - primarily row houses - even though this created wider street grids than what we see today because developers wanted more space for their properties! The early settlers had trouble getting water rights so they built cisterns all around their property which served until about 1850 when roads/lanes became available leading into town proper like Market Street now does today! Prior to this water access wasn't necessary so people simply hauled buckets or wagons back & forth each day from their farmlands! Farming continued until after World War II when large tracts of farmland reverted back into nature due to during WWII droughts caused by overpopulation
