Suisun City is a city in San Francisco Bay Area, California. The population was 897 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the Suisun River, about northwest of downtown San Francisco. By 1872 there were twenty-four businesses in town including four grocery stores, two druggists, three milliners, one hat company, six printing shops and one cooperatives association (the Fruit Growers' Cooperative Union). By 1900 there were over fifty businesses with 2½ acres (1 ha) of business property comprising most of what remains today of Yelverton Street between Market and Clay Streets. The early years of this period were difficult as competition from new industries caused prices to go up and demand for goods to drop; however by 1910 things had changed dramatically with several large companies having come into town seeking cheap land to build factories or warehouses on: these included United States Rubber Company (USRC), Alameda Meat Packers Company (AMPC), Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), Telegraph Company No. 6 (TCN6), Western Electric Telephone Corporation (WE) - all establishing themselves as major players in local commerce.
