The first target holders were three men who set up a stand on the corner of Telegraph and Mission Streets. This was followed by the formation of the Suisun Rifle and Pistol Club in 1914. In 1916, the club formed a rifle range that operated out of an old mill on Shields Ave. The club also erected a Shooting Gallery on Geary St., which served as a training ground for shooters from all overSuisun City. In 1937, a new Shooting Range was established at 202 E Street by J H Hasselhoff & Sons Ammunition Company. This became known as “The Islet” because it was located next to an island that served as a storage area for ammunition. The range continued to be used until it was closed in 1976 due to lack of funding. In 1978, two new ranges were opened by Arthur Cappeluto & Sons Ammunition Company: one at 1117 Geary St., which became known as “The Cottonmouth” due to its location near cotton fields; and another at 4500 Webster Ave., which became known as “The Viper” because it sits atop an old building that has been used as both a firing range and artillery battery since 1915. The ViperRange continued operation until 1984 when it was closed due to vandalism and damage caused by students attending nearby schools during school hours. In 1990, Shooters Supply Incorporated opened their own shooting range at 7200 Webster Avenue, which became known as “The Lone Ranger” because it is situated atop an old warehouse that has been used for this purpose since 1961. This line of shooting ranges later merged with American Sporting Goods Corporation (ASG) in 1998 when ASG acquired Shooter's Supply Incorporatedafiuntly operating four ranges throughout Northern California including The Lone RangerGunsite).
Suisun City is a city located in San Francisco County, California. The population was 941 at the 2010 census. It borders the city of Palo Alto to the north and east, Menlo Park to the south and west, and San Rafael to the northwest. The Suisun Bay Estuary forms its eastern boundary. The first Europeans to sight Suisun City were Spanish sailors who sailed into Suisun Bay on their way from Monterey to visit Mission Dolores in 1776. They named the bay after General José Joaquín de Obregon y Terrones, commander of Mexican forces stationed at Presidio of Monterey from 1777-1780. In 1824, American Commodore George Vancouver mapped and named both Suisun Bay and part of present-day Suisun City after Lord John Fenton (1st Viscount Melbourne), British Ambassador at Mexico during that time. In 1853, gold was discovered near the town by prospectors working for Gold Rush millionaire James Murtagh. A year later, Murtagh organized a company with other investors to explore this new goldfield but it proved unsuccessful and he sold his interest in it in 1855 to J. P.. Houdy & Co., a mining company led by John Sutter which soon developed large quantities of silver ore in what is now known as Houdy Gulch. The area became known as Sutter’s Valley because much of it was plowed over by developers during that time period for agricultural purposes only. In 1908, Mayor Harry Belcher proposed building an ice cream parlor on Market Street downtown because no one else had one then or wanted one then either due to health concerns about dairy products being stored outdoors near open flames (a practice still common today). After much discussion among city officials about whether or not such a proposal should be approved, they finally did so but only if Belcher could come up with plans for financing it himself which he did not do because he ran for office again two years later without having raised money for his campaign promises. In 1916 Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan introduced Senate Bill 611 which would have allowed Oakland Asylum seekers who had crossed illegally into America since 1912 to become citizens within ninety days instead of being deported back home; however this bill also failed when President Woodrow Wilson vetoed it before becoming law due largely to strong opposition from powerful Democratic legislators including Governor Hiram Johnson of California who saw this measure as another example of how Republican lawmakers were using government power unchecked against fellow Californians while they pursued policies favored by business interests outside of state boundaries In 1935 voters passed an initiative makingSuisun City an incorporated municipality with full voting rights under Proposition 13 allowing any resident over eighteen years old regardless of race or national origin access to public services like library borrowing privileges etc .
