In the early 1800s, guns were still a popular way to kill animals. So when Temecula, California developers decided to build a city in the middle of nowhere, they had no choice but to include a gunswivel in their plans. The construction of the first courthouse in Temecula began in 1876 and it was only until 1906 that the city moved from its original location on Indian Wells Avenue. That year, an ordinance was passed that required all public buildings be accessible from one side or another and so the City Hall became the first building west of San Francisco to feature this kind of access. It wasn’t until 1916 that Temecula changed its name to Torrance because it had become too crowded for Indian Wells Avenue. The gunswivel made its debut on July 5th, 1903 when Mayor Prentice Hogg approved installation of a new armory at Fifth Street and First Avenue Southwest. The armory was built specifically for use by the Temecula Police Department and eventually served as their headquarters until 1953 when it was replaced by the current police station on First Street. The old armory is now used as a museum which you can visit today if you’re lucky enough to find your way there!

Temecula, California is a small city located in Riverside County, California. The population was 17,651 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Riverside area and is about 25 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The Temecula Valley was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century. The valley was one of the most agricultural areas in Southern California because it had fertile soils that could support large crops. In 1881, James Irvine developed a water-drinkable citrus fruit drink called Orange Juice which became popular throughout Southern California. In 1907, Temecula Railway Company completed a railway from Temecula to Menifee and opened up the valley as a commercial center. In 1942, World War II began when the United States entered World War II and Temecula became one of the leading Serb military strongholds in Southern California because of its strategic location on First Meinecke Airfield near Mulholland Drive and State Route 118 (now Interstate 5). After 1945, many American soldiers who were released from prison camps returned home to live in Temecula and start anew. Many businesses in town such as Jim's Cafe (later Joes Pizza), KFC (later Kentucky Fried Chicken), Taco Bell and Big Lots closed during this time; however, some reopened after being acquired by new owners or relocated elsewhere within minutes or hours of closure. In 1964, Mayor Donny Yee signed into law Measure M which created Recreation & Parks Authority to manage all local parkland including portions of Menifee Creek Park which had been annexed by Temecila since 1914 as part of City Limits expansion project authorized by then Mayor Johnaston Daly predecessor to current Mayor Jerry Brown Measure M also designated 1/3 acre (.24 acres) west side lot on Menifee Creek Park for use as community center with tennis courtsettes addition used for open space between 2006-2010 According to 2010 Census data there are now over 19 thousand people living within city limits while 3 thousand more live outside city limits inside unincorporated communities within Riverside County . Of these residents nearly two thirds are employed full time while only 8% are self-employed . There has been significant growth not just in employment but also housing prices although much remains unregulated especially around recreational uses such as camping , hiking , biking etc . The lack thereof regulation often leads to problems such as illegally building homes without permits or involvement from elected officials ; this has caused some concern over possible future misuse or malfeasance with regards to public lands . Despite these concerns many people continue living happily ever after despite recent setbacks resulting from climate change exacerbated flooding events like Harvey Today’s economy is based primarily on services provided by government agencies such as schools system health care services social assistance libraries parks recreation centers county jails correctional facilities etc .. In 1824, George Gaspar Moorhous bought Rancho Temescal from Juan Jose Cahuilla for $4,000. In 1827, Antonio Maria Vallejo founded Mission Santa Ana de la Salle near present day Covina. From 1828 to 1830 Manuel Nieto served as pastor of both missions. On July 20th of 1830 Francisco Palomares arrived in Temecula with news that Mexico had just won Independence from Spain and that an armistice had been ratified between Mexico and America; this event marks the beginning of Mexican American War (1848-1852). On November 1st 1840 Spanish troops burned down Mission Santa Ana de la Salle but did not touch Rancho Temescal which remained under American occupation until 1862 when it was purchased by J[uan] Dominguez y Sotelo who renamed it Angeles Vieja (Old Angeles). As part of Villa Park Company land purchases during World War II many industries were developed such as aluminum smelting and shipbuilding here including Lockheed Aircraft Company's first production models made at nearby Peebles Shipyards starting in 1941 before being moved to Burbank CA in 1947 where they remain to this day producing military aircrafts & missiles
On January 1, 1849, Temecula became a city in the County of Riverside. It was named for Temescal Hill on which it was founded. The first post office was established in 1851. In 1876, Temecula built its first school and began to grow as a farming town with agriculture being the mainstay of its economy until the early 20th century. In 1912, Temecula annexed part of Verdugo Valley and changed its name to Riverside County. On March 10, 1920,Temecula adopted an ordinance providing for single-payer health care whichbecame effective on July 1st that year. The City Council passed an ordinance establishing a police department on November 14th 1922 andtemporarily renamed it Riverside Police Department on December 2nd after incorporation into the County of Riverside occurred
