Brighton, Colorado is a small town in the San Miguel County area of Colorado. The population was 2,527 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers to Brighton were John and Susie Barnes who arrived in 1873. They built a cabin on an estate near what is now downtown Brighton and started a general store. In 1874, they moved their business to what is now First National Bank and Trust Company on Main Street. In 1875, they bought land from J C Bowers for $8 per acre which included present day Park Avenue and much of downtown Brighton today. The Barneses had three children: John (1876-1951), Alice (1879-1966) and Bill (1881-1967). The first school was built in 1870 by Reverend W H Mason but it wasn't until 1875 that a school with permanent classrooms was erected on State Street across from the Barnes home. That same year, Dr W H Jackson became rector of Westminster Presbyterian Church which soon outgrew its original building on State Street so he purchased land east of Brighton to build his own church that would serve as both a church and school when needed. The current brick church was dedicated in 1907 by Rev E L Moody Sr.. In 1902, Dr J F Pritchard became pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church after being appointed by Rev Moody as Calvinist minister for Brighton & Parkdale areas outside of Westminster Presbyterian Church presence in those days In 1916, Mr Geo M Chappell took over as pastor from Mr Chappell & Mrs Beattie following their retirement from active service with Mr Chappell serving as secretary/treasurer until his death in 1944 In 1951 Mrs Beattie gave birth to her only child—Mrs Jessie Gaynor Chappell—and she continued taking care of Brighton until her death there six years later at age 86 years old Toward the end of World War II many people left or were forced out of their homes due to rationing; however most people did not return until after the war ended Afterward many businesses closed down including The Bake Shop which remain open as an Antique Store still going strong today Mrs Gaynor Chappell began working at her mother's successful bakery next door before opening her own business around 1961 called "Gaynor's Gourmet Bakery" which still stands today Thurston’s Hardware opened up adjacent to then known as “Fruitvale Grocery” back then alsoserving mostly groceries although some items like cheese might have been sold too . All this change during late 1960s through early 1970s when finally Prohibition ended followed by increasing joblessness among young men leaving town center unable or unwilling to reopen shops because economy had changed so much since prohibition days

In addition to its role as a regional center for commerce and industry, Brighton also played an important role in American history. During World War II, V-E Day (Victory in Europe) was celebrated here at the local high school before being celebrated nationally across America at large rallies. Similarly, during the 1960s and 1970s, Brighton became home to an influential music scene which helped contribute significantly to its current stature as an artsy town. In recent decades however, Brighton has seen some revitalization efforts which have resulted in increased activity within its downtown core; this has helped attract more tourists who appreciate its unique landscape and architecture. Overall, though Florence may be larger geographically speaking*, but it is clear that Pueblo has more to offer residents than just major cities*! *As stated earlier** Florence is much larger culturally speaking***
