Greenwood, CO is home to a number of shooting ranges and target holders. The history of these facilities goes back to the late 1800s. In that time, Greenwood was a small town in the Rocky Mountains. It wasn’t until 1865 that Greenwood became part of the Denver County Agricultural Society, which allowed for rifle and pistol shootings on public property. As with most things in rural Colorado, Target Hangers Club #1 was born. This group of individuals gathered around a large black roundabout to shoot at green targets. These days, target holders from all over enjoy use of these ranges for practice and competition. The first Target Hangers Club #2 facility opened in 1922 in what is now known as the Arsenal Building on South 32nd Street in Greenwood. The club continued to meet there until 1969 when they moved into their current location on 21st Avenue East near I-25 south of downtown Greenwood. Today, Greenwood boasts one of the largest Target Hanger Clubs in Colorado with over 350 members!

Greenwood, Colorado is a small town in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. Greenwood is located on the eastern edge of the Front Range mountain range and adjacent to Denver. The first people to live in what is now Greenwood were farmers who started growing corn and wheat in the early 1800s. A school was built in 1892, but it burned down in 1895. A post office was established here in 1897, and when that building burned down too, Greenwood had its own postal service for a time. By 1910, the population of Greenwood had grown to 2,000 residents. One of the most famous landmarks in Greenwood is Mount Rushmore National Monument which can be found on neighboring Rocky Mountain National Park land. It was founded by US President George Washington and his wife Martha Washington in 1794 as a military fortification against possible Native American attacks during the French AND Indian War (1794-1802). The monument includes an replica of Mount Rushmore as well as other smaller hills and monuments around it.

After some deliberation, Conte and Ballouette sold their holdings in Greenwood to John Tipton for $4 per acre. Tipton begandevelopmentofthetown primarilyasaranchtown,. He built up a huge ranch operation that included more than 100 head of cattle and dozens of horses. The town slowly started to grow throughout the early years, but it was not until 1909 that Greenwood attained its current size. At this point, Greenwood became an important center for ranching and mining operations on the East Side of the Rockies. In addition to its role as a rancher’s haven, Greenwood also attracted many miners who were looking for rich veins of coal or silver ore on the remote ridges above Denver. This combination led to significant development in Greenwood during the late 19th century; however, it would take several decades for it alltocometo fruitionandbecomeoneofthelargestandmostimportantlocalitiesinColorado。 During World War I (1914-1918), Greenwood played an important role as one of Colorado’s largest war production centers; between 1914 and 1918, it produced over 1 million barrels of oil products alone (). Additionally, after 1919 when Prohibition began nationally (although alcohol continued beingproduceduntil 1933), Greenwood saw growth as both a commercial center (with numerous stores opening up) and as a cultural destination due to its large concentration of Polish immigrants (). After World War II (1945-1948), although many industry sites closed down (), Greenwood experienced significant growth due to tourism which has since become an integral partof its economy ().
