Superior, Colorado is a town in Larimer County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,908 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Grand Junction Metropolitan Statistical Area. Superior was founded in 1868 by men from nearby Weld County and became a city in 1903. The town is named for General Lorenzo Superiore (1797-1871), an Italian general who fought against Mexico and its allies during the Mexican–American War. The current courthouse was built in 1912 and replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed by a fire. One of the first businesses to open in Superior was the Post Office which opened on October 16, 1868. That same year saw the opening of what would become Superior's first school: Coyote School south of present-day Main Street. In 1870, one vote resulted in approval for creation of a city government with streets being named after prominent citizens such as Senator John Hoadley and General Lorenzo Superiore. On May 10th, 1903, Superior became a city with Mayor Charles Puskar serving as its first mayoralty term lasting six months before being succeeded by Samuel Jaffeauer Jr.. In 1916, Mr./Mrs./Mr.[George]] Caldwell donated land to form what would become Central Park which remains today one of Superior's most popular attractions for residents and visitors alike! The park contains several playgrounds/homeschooling centers along with various other recreational amenities including tennis courts/basketball courts/golf courses etc... In 1924 (just prior to World War II), the local paper "The Republican" featured plans for construction of a new downtown hall housing both public library (then called "The Municipal Building") as well as City Hall; however this plan never came to fruition due to funding shortages caused by the war effort! In 1967-1968 when US Highway 12 Alternate passed through town it cut off much development east of Main Street so much progress had already been made westward! This event helped spur heavy investment eastward into downtown resulting in many new businesses such as banks/the post office becoming open( contributors include Sam Fenton)!!! Today Downtown still boasts some beautiful buildings from those years such as former UAW Local 701’s building now known as “The Ambassador Hotel” !!!!!!

He named the peak after his superior, General James H. superior in rank to him on board the Enterprise at that time. In 1886, The Denver and Rio Grande Railway built a line from Denver to Golden and called the route "The Superiors." This designation stuck and continues today as part of United States Route 508 between Golden and Pueblo. During World War I, Superior was used by military personnel as a training ground for troops in western Colorado Springs. From 1915-1918, it was also home to Western Development School which taught children about business and economics. On November 16, 1919, a group of nine men led by Enoch Powell set out from Eagle Creek Station on horseback upgrading what is now Interstate 25 from local dirt roads into national highway status near present day Pueblo City limits

Superior is a census-designated place in San Miguel County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,859 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pueblo–La Plata Micropolitan Statistical Area.
