However, this changed after three gunmen walked into Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on February 14th, 2018 and shot over fifty people before dying. This event made gun slings history as one of the first mass shootings to be reported in America. Gun slings were initially used by farmers to shoot game with their rifles during hunting seasons. It wasn’t until after World War II when rifle shootings started becoming more common that handguns became an option for civilians. There was a time where handguns were only available to law enforcement officers and members of the military. In 1870,the first non-military handgun was created called “The Pistolero” which fired rounds with a round head instead of a flat top like modern pistols do (Figure 2). This change led to a new era where civilians could own firearms and use them safely against criminals and other enemies (Figure 3).

Greenacres, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 2,813 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greenacres is known for its green fields and golf courses. The first settlers in what is now Greenacres were farmers who arrived from Kentucky in 1836. They started a farm on the current site of Greenacres in 1840 and named itafter General James Gaines' plantation near Tallahassee, Florida which they had also visited earlier that year. The original post office was called "Natchez". In 1845 Jno Pemberton built a house here which served as the community's first schoolhouse and store. By 1860, there were six white residents living here with one black resident. In 1865 Plantation Road (now State Road 7) was built between Nocatee Creek and geographic La Grange Key to connect Gainesville with Live Oak Swamp on the north side of Lake Monroe. This road became important to transportation because it allowed goods to be transported easily from Gainesville downriver to Tampa by boat or wagon while avoiding long trips overland through Seminole country going southward into Georgia or Alabama. Today State Road 7 still connects Greenacres with Live Oak Swamp though most traffic now travels east on US 90 instead

Because handguns had become more common within Europe, this led to an increase in demand for new types of projectiles that could be fired from pistols. As gunpowder became available throughout Europe through trade with Asia (particularly China), new cannon designs began being born which incorporated gunpowder into their design so that they could fire multiple rounds per minute instead of just one shot per minute like traditional cannonballs did. Greenacres is a small town located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,857 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Greenacres is known for its greenfield farmland and oak tree-lined streets. The first record of Greenacres appears to be from 1837 when it was called "New Hope". In 1845, John Biddle built a cabin on what is now Main Street in Greenacres. In 1850, George Whitacre bought land in Greenacres which he developed into a plantation with over 100 enslaved people working on it. In 1865, after the American Civil War ended, most of the slaves were released and many moved to other parts of Florida. In 1898 Drury sold his land to Halsey Lighthouse Company for $25 000 dollars which made Greenacres one of the largest unincorporated areas in Polk County at that time. In 1906 Halsey Lighthouse Company sold their interest in Greenacres to Jenssen Brothers Soap Works who continued to operate it as a soap factory until 1968 when it closed down due to environmental concerns.. In 1959 an ad for an open house for salestated that "Green Acres has been voted #1 place to raise children by parents all over America". The house still remains standing and occasionally home-schooled children from across the United States come visit it during school vacations or during special events such as Fourth of July celebrations or Christmas parties. Some famous residents of GreenacRES include former US President Jimmy Carter (whose family resided there), author Studs Terkel and musician Stevie Wonder
The town of Greenacres, Florida was founded in 1852 by pioneers who traveled from Ohio. The first settlers were farmers and their families who laid out a small community on the then-unveloped Miami River. The name came from the palmetto tree that grew plentifully in the area. By 1865, Greenacres had a post office and two churches. In 1898, an oil well was discovered in what is now part of the city of Jacksonville and production began to increase; by 1920, Greenacres had a population of over 1,500 people. However, with World War IIbeginning and shortages of materials prompted many businesses to close their doors; by 1950, only about 100 people lived in Greenacres. Despite this decline, the town did not go away completely – it remained an important center for agriculture until after Hurricane Andrew destroyed much of its infrastructure in 1992.
