The history of target holders in East Moline, Illinois began with the founding of the city by General James K. Polk in 1847. The city was named after a group of oak trees that stood near the original town site. At first, the targets were set up outdoors on long poles. In 1854, Mayor John Hynes placed a large metal target on top of a building on First Street South and provided free shooting privileges to citizens over 12 years old. The first real indoor shooting range was built in 1861 by George Fordham and opened to the public. It was located on Sylvester Road South near Third Street West. From 1862-1868 it was used as a military training ground for Union officers during the American Civil War. In 1870, Target Holder Manufacturing Company moved into business manufacturing target holders which were sold both online and at physical stores across Illinois until 1984 when they merged with Eastman Kodak Company’s photographic products division called Kodak Photo Products Incorporated (KPPI). East Moline, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat of Winnebago County. The population was 11,512 at the 2010 census. It lies east of Chicago on the Mississippi River and is bordered to the north by Rockford Township and to the south by Champaign Township. The first Europeans to settle in what is now East Moline were Indians who hunted animals along the riverbank. A group of men known as The Illini (later changed to East Moline) arrived in 1819 from Ohio and started a fur trading post on the banks of the river. In 1824, they founded what became Illinois State Normal University (ISU). In 1837, they erected a toll gate on Canisteo Creek so that goods passing through their territory could be taxed without being taken directly into Michigan Territory where most people lived then. That same year, they built a grist mill on Clear Lake which still stands today producing flour for local stores and markets. In 1839, Charles Evans Hughes purchased 640 acres (2 km²) east of town from The Illini for $5 per acre ($/km²). He began construction on what is now Hughes Hall which served as both an academy and college before becoming a national center for education during World War II when it was used as an air base by United States forces stationed in Europe. In 1906, he donated land adjacent to his hall site to become Pioneer Park which features exhibits about early American settlers and their descendants in East Moline; plus a recreated pioneer cabin complete with period tools and furniture. Moline was incorporated as a city on December 3rd, 1903. At its incorporation it had 10 residents: 6 men and 4 women who operated two groceries stores; 2 seed dealers; 1 tailor; 1 druggist; 1 photographer; 1 carpenter/builder; 1 farmer- laborer/carpenter turned plumber/electrician/. By 1911 there were 12 residents: 8 men & 4 women running 5 grocery stores (& one hotel); 2 seed dealers (& 2 hotels); 3 tailor shops (~10 different types), 1 druggist shop (~10 different types), & one photographer shop (~4 different types). During prohibition era (1920s-1930s) many businesses were closed down due to lack of law enforcement or prohibition regulations In 1940 East moline united with Rockford IL under Oneida County government In 1948 when Illinois became an all black state EAST MILLEIUS became WHITE

East Moline, Illinois is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population of the town was 9,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and forms part of the city's south-central business district. East Moline is bordered by Rockford to the north and west, Joliet to the east and south, and Wheaton to the southwest. The community began as a small farmstead on what is now east side of campus at Northwestern University in 1881. The first school in East Moline was organized on September 12th of that year when twelve students from nearby Rockford came together to learn about learning methods offered by Dr. James Caldwell at Rockford Female Academy. In 1887, East Moline had its first post office which was located on present day Main Street. In 1907, an addition to school district #2 was created making it possible for more than one school within a single district to offer instruction at various locations including high schools (grades 7-12), elementary schools (ages 1-4) and junior colleges/universities (graduate level programs). By 1912 there were also two churches in East Moline with First Methodist being founded in 1902 and Baptist coming into operation in 1909. In 1916 an act authorizing creation of a Junior College District No 2 was passed by the legislature with plans for Eastern State Normal School located in what would become East Moline but due to financial difficulties not actually built until after World War I when money became available through federal funds for military education purposes it finally opened its doors on October 1st 1919 as Eastern State Teachers' College Specializing In Education For Young Men only making it possible for men only since no woman had been allowed access then or ever since! With this new opportunity there began what would be many years of growth for both educational institutions with Eastern State soon becoming one of America’s largest universities enrolling over 100% female students who today make up almost half our student body! Today there are 4 campuses serving over 9500 undergraduate students plus tens thousands graduate students enrolled across all faculties offering 192 majors with unique professional opportunities! With enrollment continuing to grow athletics have taken center stage with such championships as Cross Country Championships (men’s & women’s), Soccer Championship (Men’s & Women’s), Basketball Championship (Men’s & Women’s) Baseball Championship(Stadium: Community Park) and Golf Championship(Golf Course - Haggerty Park)! Athletics has always been an important facet providing fun diversion while preparing youth for college life inevitable later on!
East Moline, Illinois was founded on May 24, 1837 by the brothers Eli and Andrew Green. The town was named for both of the brothers’ parents, John Green and Susannah Miller. In 1847, East Moline became a part of the newly created city of Chicago.
