Pekin, Illinois, is a small town located in the southern part of Cook County, Illinois. It was founded in 1818 by John Pekin and his family. The population of the town was 2,500 at the time of its incorporation. Pekin is one of three villages in Cook County that are still governed by a village board system. The other two villages are Arlington Heights and Glen Ellyn. Pekin has been home to many famous people, including Abraham Lincoln and James Buchanan. In 1844 alone Ft Worth grew by more than 10 percent due largely to influxes of new settlers brought over by railroads! In 1861 when Illinois joined Union forces during the American Civil War (the war being fought primarily on behalf of slavery), Ft Worth quickly became an important military post because it had strategic chokepoints on both sides – especially on the Mississippi River where Union troops could block Confederate shipments Entering Chicago! After getting word that General Ulysses S Grant was advancing towards Chicago via Indiana Territory – Ft worth quickly erectedworks across railroad tracks right next door to their fortifications making them one stop for provisions needed for Army soldiers marching along I-55 through central Illinois! A few years later they also constructeda large hospital just east off State Street between Elmhurst Ave./Prairie Ave./Michigan Ave.,(now Roosevelt Rd.)&State St.(now Wacker Drive)), becoming oneof largest hospitals in America at that time! Priorities changed after Sherman’s march through central IL & MO destroyed most major cities without any appreciation from Congress so Ft Worth continued functioning until 1949 when all activities were transferred here form Danville/Ft Worth merged into modern day Kaneohe Village plc.- now located inside Kaneohe AFB
