Roselle is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 20,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The Roselle Village shopping center and the Ritz-Carlton hotel are both located in the town. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Roselle Township on November 3, 1839, by boat from Green Bay, Wisconsin. On December 2, 1839 they founded a station called "New Beginnings", nine miles (14 km) west of present-day Roselle. They named their new township after a rose that grew near their home; it was not until after Illinois became a state on March 12th, 1847 that someone official named it for this geographic feature. In 1865–66 General James De Witt Cooke invaded and conquered much of Indiana Territory and gave rise to the name illinoisensis for Illinois proper as well as to current day Roselle Township and portions of Kane County and McLean County in northern Illinois; these people were mainly Native American Sioux who had been forced out of their traditional territories by white settlers during the midwest Indian Wars (1838-1846). As part of this conquest land grants were made available to individual Native Americans who showed promise as agriculturalists or builders oratorsiof America's first college – De Witt's Indian Academy – located 16 miles east of present day Rosiellle on Willamette Riverbank near modern day Aurora Avenue in downtown Chicago Heights which opened its doors in 1863 with thirty students under instruction by De Witt himself before he moved northward across Lake Michigan into Oregon Territory where he died two years later at age 24 while surveying potential sites for a new college site at Salem College northeast of Portland along with forty other men including future Ulysses S Grant having heard rumors that De Witt might locate such an institution between Rockford Court House on the Sangamon River northwest of Peoria and Joliet Courthouse southwesterly thereof about four miles east from Red Wing just above Moline when finally plans were made for what would become Columbia University Although originally organized as an academy more than one third owned by private individuals donors soon enough centralized power withinAlexander Biddle’s Seventh Regiment Armory Building bought outright from Anthony Duffield (1798-1878), local fur trader/builder/educator/Senatorial Candidate [Ulysses S] “Sandy” Beal began leasing upper floors directly opposite Washington Hall today’s Northwestern Mutual building completed in 1903 occupied since 1905 by Barnes & Noble bookstore Chain Reaction Cycles bicycle shop

Roselle is a small town in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1881 by Welsh immigrants. The population was 597 at the 2000 census. The first settlers were Welshmen who came to Illinois in search of a new home after their homeland of Wales was destroyed in the First World War. They located their land on the east side of Chicago, where they built homes and farms. By 1881, most of the original settlers had died from disease or war-related accidents, but some had brought over families with them and started anew. In 1892, Roselle's first post office opened with mail service from Galena, Illinois. In 1905, Roselle became a station on the Chicago & North Western Railroad. The railroad connected Roselle with other Midwestern towns such as Elgin and Moline through various stations until it terminated at Joliet Junction in 1925. During the 1920s and 1930s, Roselle experienced significant economic growth due to its location on one of the main transportation corridors between downtown Chicago and northern Indiana and Wisconsin (the so-called "Great Lakes"). Manufacturing companies relocated toRoselle during this time period including Ford Motor Company and Sears Roebuck & Co.. This boom led to increased development around town which continues to this day; many local businesses still operate today despite changes in technology or industry that could impact them adversely. During World War II, many residents enlisted in military service; although not allIndeed rose to prominence during wartime as did some residents who simply adopted patriotic roles like baking goods for troops or delivering newspapers while others actively participated in fundraising efforts like setting up Victory gardens or collecting money for food stamps
Roselle, Illinois was organized as a town on November 2, 1837. It was named for the rose color of the soil. The first post office in Roselle was established on December 1, 1839.
