Gary, Indiana is home to one of the largest optical accessory businesses in the Midwest. The company, Gary Optical, was founded in 1907 by Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Hargrave. From its humble beginnings as a small family-owned business,Gary Optical has grown into one of the leading optics retailers in the Midwest. Today, there are over 350 employees who offer a wide range of optic products and services to customers from all over the Midwest. The history of Gary Optical goes back to 1907 when Edwin J. Hargrave opened his store selling lenses and other optical equipment for use with telescopes, microscopes, binoculars, and otheroculars. In 1912 Mr. Hargrave married Jessie Bancroft and together they commenced sales of eyeglasses and other optical equipment at their store until 1935 when they moved their operation to their present location on East Washington Street near South Union Market in Gary (now part of Midwestern University). This move allowed them to continue carrying new product lines such as astrographs, telescope focusers, photographic film cameras, spotting scopes/binoculars/omega-welders/optical chart readers etc., while also expanding their customer base including many local farmers and businessmen who used these products for agricultural purposes or used them for special scientific investigations! In 1949 Edwin J. Hargrave passed away leaving his business management to his wife Jessie who continued running it until her death in 1984; however her son continued operations under the name "Edwin J.'sGary Optical" until 1990 when he too passed away leaving the business completely taken over by his children! It was through this succession that Gary Optical became one of the leading retailers in America specializing in optics products! Gary was founded by the Howard family in 1881. The town became a center for agricultural production after the Indiana General Assembly passed a law in 1884 making it an official state capital. In 1907, Gary's population reached 10,000 people and it grew rapidly during the late 19th century as manufacturing shifted from eastern Indiana to Gary. By 1920, the city had grown to 25,000 people and it continued to grow until 1990 when its population dropped below 15,000 people. In recent years, however, growth has resumed in the city with new businesses opening up and renovation of older buildings bringing more residents and businesses to the area. The history of Gary begins with one man – GeorgeHoward – who started farming in central Indiana in 1881. After several failures he finally established himself as a successful farmer in what is now known asGary. GeorgeHoward did not simply settle down and continue farming like his predecessors; rather, he made changes that would help him succeed over time. One of these changes was moving his operations from centralIndiana to what is now known asGary so that he could better produce crops for local consumption instead of exporting them back home. This switch allowed him to improve his business acumen while also ensuring that he could keep up with advances in technology and industry overall. In 1907, when Gary began growing rapidly thanks to manufacturing relocation within the city limits (itself a result of advances within industry), Mayor Edmond Weisselman decided that it was time for the community’s fledgling government to move into modern facilities on State street east of Main Street which would house all important municipal functions including courtrooms, jail cells & other police officers’ stations etc.; this move signaled significant progress for downtown Gary since at that time government services were generally handled out-of-town (eastern) where larger towns such as Terre Haute or Indianapolis satuate themselves.-This shift also helped reflect changing economic conditions within northwestern Indiana which were becoming increasingly reliant upon industrial production throughout much of eastern Michigan/western Ohio beyond just agriculture given those areas' proximity to Detroit & Pittsburgh respectively.–Whereas previous administrations had focused largely on maintaining rural infrastructure (roads & schools) built by previous generations; this new mayor went about building something much greater: an efficient government which could provide critical public services without infringing upon personal liberties or civil liberties enjoyed by citizens living elsewherewithintheCity Limits.–This was eventually accomplished through both construction of new buildings inside City Limits proper as well as purchasing existing property adjoining City Limits real estate thus reducing costly redecorating costs thereby increasing efficiency across all levels of Government service provision.–It should be noted here that while Mayor Weisselman laid down foundation rules for how things would work later on; authority rested ultimately with Township Commissioners elected every two years at large who functioned essentially as shadow managers day-to-day so long as they adheredTo These Rules And Regulations As Set Forth In A Charter Signed By Mayor Weisselman…..[A]fter having served 2 terms (& being reelected twice), Commissioner John Breen assumed charge Of The Municipal Affairs Department………………….After serving 3 terms (& being reelected 3 times), Raymond DeLorme assumed charge Of The Planning Department……………..Of course there were always various ‘advisers’ hired by various departments responsible Forcarrying Out MG&RD Policies But In reality responsibilityFor All Actions Executive Or Judicial Resulted Right Down To THE COMMISSIONERS WHO WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THE GOVERNMENT OF DOWNTOWN GARY
