Gun barrels were first manufactured in the Washington, Indiana area beginning in the early 1800s. In 1814, a group of men from this area founded the Chicago and Indianapolis Railroad. This railroad was later renamed the Central Indiana Railroad. The company built a line from Terre Haute, IN to LaPorte, IN. The Gun Barrel Works was located on this line. In 1828, gun barrel manufacturer John A. Brown & Company began producing rifles in Washington, Indiana. This company produced firearms for both government and private customers. From 1830-1832, Brown also produced pistols in Washington County. In 1836-1838, Brown Brothers Firearms Manufacturing Company manufacturing pistols at their shop in Terre Haute became one of several companies that merged to form Colt Arms Manufacturing Company. Colt subsequently changed its name to Smith & Wesson Corporation in 1903. The use of handguns ashunting weaponry increased during the 19th century due to new technology such as breechloading firearms and percussion caps (a type of ammunition used with muzzleloaders). Gun barrel manufacturers responded by producing guns that could handle these newer rounds more effectively than older muzzleloader weapons. As production volumes grew throughout the 1800s and into the 1900s, gun barrel manufacturers also began to produce shotguns and rifle barrels specifically for shotgunning purposes.

However, much like Indianapolis itself, Washington struggled during World War II despite being located less than six miles from ground zero for the bombing raids that devastated downtown Indianapolis). The post-war period saw great growth for Washington as new businesses moved into town and families decided to stay put following their successful careers elsewhere within America or abroad. Today’s City Hall Square serves as a testament to how well things have done since then – it remains home to almost every major business closed down during any given year between 2008-2012 (save for two!).

Washington was founded in 1785 by refugees from British America migrating through what is now Northwest Indiana. The first store in Washington was established by one Nicholas Cuyler in 1786. In 1800, George Rogers Clark came through this area on his way to become General George Washington's aide-de-camp during his campaigns against Great Britain and he named this small town after him, Clarkstown on Saturday night near where he camped out while traveling downriver from Fort Wayne. In 1814, when General Andrew Jackson invaded Indiana Territory for the Second Continental Congress, he destroyed much of Clinton Township including most of Washington Township including present day Howard County with heavy losses at that time as there were no roads or settlements then other than Native American villages which could be raided easily by Jackson's forces because they had no defenses other than their villagehouses themselves. A few years later a road was built between Clintontown and Hartford but it only reached about halfway between them so passengers had to walk several miles (8 km) before reaching their destination. This road became known as Jackson Road today due to its connection with that general and his campaign against Indian raids along it during his two terms as President of the United States from 1828 to 1832). During Indian Wars fought throughout central and eastern United States by both Native American tribes and white settlers, many people took refuge in what are now Washington City limits during these conflicts such as John Adams who used what is now known as Greencastle Avenue to cross over into Canada from Lake Ontario; James Kapp who fled eastward across Findlay Creek into western Pennsylvania during Pontiac’s Rebellion; Daniel Boone who took up land northeast of present day Indianapolis along Wabash River; 200 refugees numbering about 100 men under Captain Arthur Stroud led by Major David Dixon arrived at White Sands Landing just upstream from present day Georgetown on November 12th 1794 looking for safety following a scouting expedition organized by Pierre La Salle overland from Illinois via modern day Lafayetteville which unsuccessful discovered nothing hostile beyond some numerous deer carcasses left behind by French traders operating near Fort Dearborn northwest of Detroit Lakes region then still disputed territory between Great Lakes natives (Ojibwe)and Ottawa/Haudenosaunee Confederacy led primarily by Chief Pontiac followed immediately thereafter direct clashes ensuing three days long engagements culminating January 7th 1795 with initial success resulting in casualties upon Paleys main force driving them back into SuperiorRiver interior well outmanned Indians being forced finally onto reservations west side NiagaraLake immediately south Sideof rapids east side powerboat landing current site
