Lewiston is a town in207 miles northeast of Boston, Massachusetts. The population was 10,584 at the 2010 census. In 1821, Captain George A. Smith sailed up the Penobscot River and named it after his friend and business partner Lewiston (then spelled Louth), Maine, then part of British North America.Lewiston is located on the banks of the Penobscot River and is bordered by Bangor to its north, Machias to its east, Presque Isle to its south, and Thomaston to its west. It spans an area of just undersquare mile (0.8 km²). The first settlement in what would become Lewiston was made on February 14th 1793 when Lewis Cassius sold land to David Wilcock for £100 Scots dollars ($16 today). The town began as a small community consisting of about fifty people primarily engaged in farming and fishing. On December 5th 1821 a group led by Captain George A. Smith founded the town on eight acres (3 ha)of land that they had purchased from David Wilcock near where the present-day University of Maine campus stands today. At first Lewiston consisted only of a few buildings built from logs brought downriver from nearby Bangor. But with increasing trade along the river and growing industry within town limits such as sawmills, brick kilns and tanneries – all located within walking distance – development accelerated quickly over time culminating in full cityhood status in 1872 when all but five blocks between Front Street/Avenue B (now State Street)and Main Street were added to form what is now downtown Lewiston . At that time there were just over one hundred residents living in downtown Lewiston while more than two thousand people resided throughout the rest of town which spanned an area that extends current day Northern Boulevard eastward into Bangor County before terminating at Route 11 opposite Presque Isle Airport

However, despite these regulations being put into place over many years there has never been a total ban on firearms in the USA – this is due mainly to lobbying efforts by organized criminals who are able to find loopholes in existing policy while still possessing large numbers of assault rifles etc…

Today, Lewiston remains a working-class town with a significant African American population that has worked at various local businesses since before white settlement occurred hereabouts.
