Dearborn Heights is a city in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 25,693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Detroit metropolitan area. The first gun sling in Dearborn Heights was made by Fenton Manufacturing Company in 1892. The company produced slings for shotguns and rifles as well as other household items such as kites and canoes. Gun slings were initially used to store rounds in case of an emergency shooting or when there was no place to put cartridges on the ground. By the early 1900s,gun sling production had increased significantly; many companies operated multiple factories across Dearborn Heights and adjacent townships during this time. In 1902, Jens Jensen began making rifle slings from cotton twill fabric using his own facilities located on Belle Isle Road east of Grand River Avenue in Dearborn Heights. This factory manufactured rifle slings until 1918 when it became attached to Winchester Repeating Arms Co., which continued to produce rifle slings until 1962 when it merged with Remington Arms Company. During World War II, gun slings were used extensively by American forces stationed overseas; they were especially popular with sniper teams because they could quickly reload their rifles while remaining stationary relative to enemy targets. In 1946, Remington Arms Company purchased Winchester Repeating Arms Co., which continued production of rifle slings under that name until 1988 when it merged with Leupold & Stevens Incorporated to form Leupold & Stevens Incorporated current operations subsidiary (L&S)Manufacturing Products Division (MPD). Dearborn Heights is home to Eastern Market and several large shopping malls including The Bay store and Sears Holdings Corporation's Kenmore Square. Dearborn Heights began as an agricultural community that grew up around the Ford Motor Company's Dearborn Plantation near what is now Midtown Detroit. The area became known for its horses, which were kept on the estate until they could be sold and used in carriage rides throughout the city. In 1892, General Motors moved its manufacturing operations from Oakland County to Dearborn Heights, where it established a plant that produced cars and trucks. GM discontinued production of vehicles in Dearborn Heights in 1968 but continues to maintain a presence with its retail stores located there today. Dearborn Heights also played host to one of the first airshows in Michigan when Municipal Air Service (later Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) staged an event at Midway Airport on October 3, 1927 featuring military aircraft from World War I era European forces

Dearborn Heights was founded by Augustus Kelley in 1837 as a small village on the east side of the river. In 1871 it became a town under the name of Dearborn Heights after General William Tecumseh Sherman's division arrived there from Chicago to help with Reconstruction efforts in America following the American Civil War. The city was renamed Dearborn Heights in honor of General George Washington Carver who donated land for a central square and public school system in 1922. The firstGeneral Motors plant opened in 1928, followed by other major auto plants over the next few decades including Ford Motor Company (1930), Chrysler Corporation (1935), GMC Truck & SUV Division (1968), Jeep Grand Cherokee and Plymouth Valiant dealerships (1976). The city also hosted several international trade shows such as International Exposition of Automobiles 1931 and Auto Show 1978 which attracted thousands of visitors each year. World Expo 1992 took place here as well and Industry Week 2006 featured exhibitors from across North America at Dearborn Park through Augmented Reality technology displays throughout most venues inside park itself- making it one of only two cities worldwide to do so! In recent years, many high-tech businesses have moved into downtown Dearborn Heights including Apple Inc., Intel Capital LLC, Google Inc., Microsoft Studios, Arista Networks etc.; while some restaurants have closed or relocated elsewhere due to suburban competition or changing consumer trends across Central Michigan area more generally). Theaters like AMC Theatres, Joe’s Pizza & Subs (closed 2017)and KFC are all still open but not located near downtown near other big box stores like Sears Holdings Home Department Store etc.. There has been talk recently about redeveloping much or all of downtown Dearborn Heights with mixed uses/commercial/residential components with streetscape changes that would include new sidewalks and lighting along Woodward Ave NW which runs through core business district; however no final decisions have yet been made!
