Over time, other schools were built as well, including one for girls in 1907. The population of Maplewood ballooned after World War II when so many people came to work on the farms around here. After the war, things started to decline until they finally stabilized in the late 1980s or early 1990s when new immigrants started moving into town. Today, Maplewood is home to a variety of businesses – some old and some new – as well as a number of residents who are passionate about their community and its history. There are events every year dedicated to preserving local history such as Old Town Day (which takes place every July), which celebrates all aspects of maple-growing life; Heritage Days (held once every two years), which highlights various aspects of town life from before independence; and also monthly walks/runs organized by the Chamber of Commerce which offer visitors an opportunity to see what life was like back then or experience local cuisine if they're interested in that kind of thing!
