By 1900, over 50 homes were being built along Hennepin Avenue between Cedar and First Streets. In 1915, farmers Wm & Bertha Kapp agreed to sell their land to the city for $100 per acre (equivalent to $2,500 per square mile). This allowed the city to build more public works including schools and roads around downtown which have helped keep Maplewood thriving ever since. Today, Maplewood has a population of over 6,000 people who live within its borders or visit each week for business or pleasure reasons alone!
