Bellefontaine Neighbors was founded in 1853 by John Bellefontaine and his wife Sarah. The town was named after the Bellefonte River, which ran through the area. In 1869, BellefontaineNeighbors had a population of fifty-six people and a post office. By 1915, the population had grown to one hundred people and a school. In 1922, Bellefontaine Neighbors incorporated as a city. The city boundaries expanded in 1951 when Belleville Township merged with Bellefontaine Neighbors. Today,Bellefontaine Neighbors has a population of six hundred thirty-six people and a police department. In 1853, John Bellefontaine and his wife Sarah founded Bellefontaine Neighbors in what is now Belleville Township on the east side of the Missouri River near present day Jefferson City. At that time, nearby Jefferson City had only two residents: John Bellefontaine himself and his daughter Sarahbelle Fontane (1801-1886). The first settler in what is now Belleville Township was Isaac Beach (1788-1864), who arrived around 1800 from Rhode Island aboard the "Pandora" ship built by Benjamin Church for transporting goods between New York City and Bostonport[1]. According to one source,[2], Isaac Beach may have been motivated to move because he thought that he would be able to purchase land near where today's Belleville Township stands because at that time there were no other settlements within sight of either Jefferson City or St Peters County due to its location on high ground along the Missouri River floodplain[3]. In 1868, Samuel Griggs bought 640 acres adjacent to what is now Belleville Township from Isaac Beach for $125.[4] Samuel Griggs also donated an acreage for use as an armory[5]. That year saw another early foundation in Belvedere Township when James Wills purchased 100 acres for $50[6]. Wills likely acquired this land because it lay directly acrossriver from where he lived on Beaver Creek Road which connectedSt Peters County withJefferson Cityand then downstream into St Louis County(now MO). Unfortunately for Wills however, due to flooding events occurring during this period,[7],[8],[9],[10]the river rose so high that all but 4 ofWills' 10 acres were destroyed; therefore we know nothing about this early Settler’s motivation or plans for future development within our township! The first post office operated in Belvedere Township from 1865 until 1870 when it moved to Prairie du Chien. By 1870,BellevilleTownship had developed into what it is today thanks largely to contributions made by early settlers such as Samuel Griggs, James Wills Sr., & John Crouch Jr.. One of these contributors was Elijah Beattie (1815-1902), who contributed $500 towards building both the courthouse at Prairie du Chien[11]and later additions such as grates & steps leading upto it which still stand today! For those reasons alone Buena Vista Library System feels very gratefulthat Elijah Beattie choseBellevilleTownship over other more popular destinations like Topeka or Wichita Falls! Bellefontaine was platted in 1857 and named for Belle Fontaine, an early settler. The community's first school opened in 1861. In 1876, the Bellefontaine post office was established and remained in operation until it closed in 1923. According to the 2000 US Census, Bellefontaine had a population of 715 people; however, this number fell to 584 by 2010 due to natural attrition and other factors such as annexation by neighboring townships since that year. According to the 2006 US Census Bureau report on housing prices in Moniteau County, Bellefontaine may have lost its status as an affordable community due to high costs of livingrelativeto similar communities located within a shorter distance of Route 66 or Interstate 44B (I- 64). However, according to recent research compiled by real estate website RENTCafé – which includes data from both2006 and2010 censuses – Bellefontaine still ranks as one of Moniteau County’s most affordable places to live with monthly rent prices averaging just $2,500 per month statewide (compared to more than $10,000 for similarly situated homes located less than three miles away on I- 64). In addition to its affordability potential continuing into future censuses (and likely beyond), what many might not consider is how well founded this claim may be given that homes located within walking distance of I- 44B or Route 66 are regularly selling for much more (> $250K/year) than homes located closer but still within commuting distances from Bellefontain itself despite having smaller populations!

Throughout the 1920s and 1930s, firearm hats got more attention from collectors due to their unusual design features or historical significance. For example, some gun owners started wearing cowboy hats as part of their costume presentation rituals during NRA meetings or other events where such accessories were allowed (known as “gun shows”). Many civilians began wearing these stylish Hats in response as well since they could symbolize support for Second Amendment rights or other patriotic values at those same events! Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri is a small community located in Jackson County, Missouri. The population was 514 at the 2010 census. The community is named for Bellefontaine, Ohio, which was once part of the Bellefontaine Township in Ottawa County. Bellefontaine Township was organized on November 1, 1836 and absorbed by Jackson County on January 1, 1837. Bellefontaine Neighbors began as a farming village with only a few homes and businesses dating back to the 1800s. Today's buildings were built during the late 19th century when Bellefontaine became an agricultural center due to its fertile land and good water supply. Many of the residents who live in Bellefontaine today are descendants of early settlers who lived here before it became a town. The first settler in what is now Belle Fontainville was John Humphrey who arrived around 1792. Humphrey owned three acres of land near present-day Belleville Road and developed it into a farmstead that he named after his daughter’s birthplace, Belle Fontainville (now known as Champaign). Humphrey’s wife also founded a small school in 1792 which served as the nucleus for what would become Belleville Elementary School District #1. Belleville Township was organized on November 1, 1836 by order of Territorial Governor James Kansa from portions of Ottawa County that had been annexed by Jackson County earlier that year. At its creation, Belleville Township consisted of only two square miles including parts of Champaign and Urbana counties plus parts of Scott and Washington townships within Illinois Territory. Bellefontaine Neighborhoods began to grow rapidly following World War II when many farmers moved here to escape Communism while others moved because they foundellarable acreage hereabouts ideal for agriculture or development potential due to its rich soil resources and well-developed infrastructure (roads, schools etc.). In addition to agriculture being oneofthe mainstay industries in BelleFontaneither until recently nor have recent years seen any major changes take place other than population growth which has generally occurred through births/death rates rather than annexation/population growth contests between neighboring communities

Bellefontaine Neighbors, located in Boone County, Missouri, was laid out on the land that is now Bellefontaine Township by Benjamin Fenton in 1837. The first house built in the township was a log cabin at what is now Elm Street and Arch roads. By 1840, there were five buildings in the township. The first post office was established at Bellefontaine in 1846. A schoolhouse was built in 1848 and also served as a town hall for Bellefontaine Township until it burned down in 1889. The township became part of Boone County when it was organized on March 1, 1865. On November 3, 1876, an act to create a new township within Boone County was passed and Bellefontaine Township became one of its two townships. In 1912, the name of the town changed from Bellefontain to Bellefontaine Township again because of changes taking place with respect to local naming conventions which caused some confusion among residents. Bellefontaine Township has had three mayors since its establishment: John Sweeny (1912-1914), Samuel Jourdan (1945-1949) and Harmon Purdy (1965-1969).
