Bellemontaine Neighbors has been home to many businesses over the years including two banks (the First National Bank and the Citizens Bank), two grocery stores (one opened in 1916 by Mrs. John Henson and one opened by Mr. Harry Smith), three churches (Church of Christ, also known as First Presbyterian Church; Methodist Episcopal; Baptist), four schools (grades 1-12th) including one high school which closed in 2001 but reopened again under new ownership in 2007), two post offices (the now defunct Post Office Village located west of town within sight of the old slave quarters) as well as several homes for sale or rent both inside and outside of town limits along with several outhouses used by local farmers until recently too!. Over time, many other families followed suit and settled in what is now BelleFontaine Neighborhoods including those from Amsterdam (now Holland), Cincinnati (now Cincinnati), Cleveland (now Cleveland Heights), Detroit (now Dearborn Heights), Greenville (now Greenville Village), Indianapolis (now Terre Haute), Pittsburgh (now Pittsburgh). In addition to these pioneer families there were also numerous waves of immigrants who arrived between 1850 and 1925 including Poles, Hungarians, Italians/Americanos/Turkish Americans/Czechs/Slovaks/Rumanians/Romanians etc., all seeking opportunity and a better life within America’s expanding borders. Consequently, over time many different cultures mixed together creating one unique form of civilization – Americana!

Bellefontaine Neighbors was a small town in west-central Missouri, near the site of St. Louis. The community first developed around a mill built by Daniel Bellefontaine in 1837. By 1860, the population had shrunk to just ten residents. In 1865, the Bellefontaine family sold their mill and moved to nearby Florissant. The mill closed in the early 1870s and it is unclear what happened to the community's Mill Pond. In 1892, Bellefontaine became part of Florissant Township. In 1924, Bellefontaine became an incorporated town with a population of seventy-six people.
