Kalispell, Montana is the most southern city in the contiguous United States. In 1876, it was founded as a Sioux reservation by settlers from Nebraska. The city was named for General George Armstrong Custer and his regiment of cavalry known as "The Kalispell Lancers." The city's first store opened in 1881. By 1910, Kalispell had a population of 6,500 people. In 1916, the City Council voted to rename the city after Enrico Fermi, one of the creators of nuclear physicist and engineer Ernest Lawrence's "Atomic Bomb." During World War II, Kalispell became an important munitions production center due to its location at the junction of two major military highways. It produced munitions for both Nazi Germany and Japan. In 1984, Kalispel was designated a National Historic Landmark for its role in ammunition history.

This purchase marked the beginning ofKalispell's long relationship with GAPowder Company, which would continue until 1984. In 1904, the Kalispell Rifle and Pistol Club established a manufacturing arm to produce their own ammunition products. This arm would become known as the "GAPowder Manufacturing Corporation." In 1907, the Kalipede Pistol company was born out of the merger of two previous gunpowder companies: The Pittsburg Rifle company (founded in 1868) merged with The Armory Powder company (founded in 1875). In 1907, this new company began producing pistol rounds utilizing both black powder and percussion caps on an annual basis; these rounds are still being produced today by Pittsburg Armory munitions division under license from GAPowder Manufacturing Corporation.

Early cannons were developed between 350 BC-14 AD which fired projectiles made up of Stones (think mortar) which would fly towards their target or an animal you could see out there like a soldier on horseback shooting an arrow out there! This was called “throwing rocks” back then because you would sling them around with your hand like a stone thrower! In 1066 AD Holy Roman Emperor Conrad I went into battle against Saladin’s army outside Jerusalem using siege artillery consisting of howitzers (shot balls filled with lead) that could only be moved by horses drawn by men! These guns bored through shields so they couldn’t use them as cover anymore! When these guns didn’t work because either the powder couldn't hit anything or it got wet during firing due to all the rain etc., he invented his own type of gun known as an bombardier which fires both stones and bolts! He also threw incendiary material onto these cannons so when it came time for him to take aim he just set off all these explosives inside this big cannonball thing called “the bombardier”! So much for being able to hide behind your shield when attacking from behind 🙂 Anyway back to Conrad – his army managed to take down Saladin's army within 24 hours thanks largely to this new invention!!! And here we are still dealing with firearms today that shoot destructive munitions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From here on out various projectile types became available including iron balls (which were used by Napoleonic armies), rubber bullets (used during World War 1), bomblets (a type of explosive bullet that is made up mostly of shrapnel), submunitions (a type of munition meant for impact only), flechettes (a kindof dart found natureially inside soft animals such as rabbits)…. The list goes on endless but essentially each time somebody wanted something different done with gunfire there was someone who came up with a way to do it using some form projectile/explosive weapon: bows & arrows; spears; cannons; pistols; rifles; machineguns…. But what about those pesky little nuggets hidden inside every object we touch? They're Ammo Pels…..
