At first, Mr. Sills sold bullets only to other gunsmiths, but he soon realized that he could do better than just sell Bullets—he could sell Fire Arms. In 1907, Mr. Sills began selling Ammo under the name of "Ammunition Company." By 1912, he had built up a large enough inventory to open his own store on Second Avenue south of town. In 1923, Armour Ammunition Corporation was formed as a subsidiary of Mr. Sills' company with an initial investment of $1 million dollars from industrialist Wm Fenton Morgan Jr., founder of Ford Motor Company. Armour became one of the leading ammunition companies in America with its lineups including such high-quality products as .50 caliber Winchester rounds and 7 mm Mauser rounds for rifles and pistols; .45 ACP cartridges for handguns; 9x19mm Luger rounds for shotguns;and 5 round x 39mm magazines for rifles and pistols (later also made available as 3round x 39mm magazines). In 1980, fire caused extensive damage to Armour's Mississauga plant which forced it to shut down temporarily while repairs were made; however, due to public outcry and donations from people all over America (includingMissouri), Armour reopened within two weeks and continued production until 1984!
