With this weapon, Alaric was able to shoot bolts up to 100 feet long at distances up to 10 miles! This contraption is still used today by modern shooters for target practice! 1492–1504 – Portugal sent one of its most renowned explorers named Gonçalo Pires exploration team into Asia in search of new lands and civilizations. While exploring Java in 1492, Pires discovered what would eventually be called Bangkok (now Thailand). From this discovery, Portugal began stockpiling weapons in order to expand their empire! In 1504, when England took control over much of Southeast Asia from Portuguese rule, they beganimporting Thai weapons into their country in an effort to counter English dominance! This led directlyto World War II!
