This made Elko more developed than it had been before and helped drive away pioneers who had settled there during the early days of this area’s arrival as settlers looking for fertile land failed to find it because water could not be drawn from deep within the earth to irrigate crops effectively using traditional methods such as digging ditches or wading into creekside beds. The railroad arrived in 1906 when Northern Pacific Railroad began construction on its line from Reno to Las Vegas via Carson City (the present day location of Hoover Dam). After three years of construction, the main line reached Elko Junction where travelers could switch trains heading north or south depending on their destination but no train ever went through Elko itself; passengers had to disembark at Carson City and then walk back upriver all the way back home! In 1912 Union Pacific Railroad extended their tracks eastward from Reno via Ashland (now Pershing) Junction which brought more people and businesses into Elko; however, little happened until 1916 when local developer Fenton Eubanks purchased land northeast of town that he would eventually develop into what is now called Enterprise Park which included an amusement park including a roller coaster ride called “The Colossus” which still operates today! It wasn’t until 1978 when development started on what would become known as Elmwood Drive which runs parallel to Enterprise Drive between downtownElk Falls and Elk Lake; this led to increased traffic across Enterprise Drive due to residents driving out their homes onto Elmwood Drive instead of going downhill towards downtownElk Falls where they could walk or take public transportation! Today Elmwood Drive remains one of only a few streets completely surrounded by commercial development throughout most of downtownElk Falls making it one busy thoroughfare! In 1984, after years of discussion between city leaders and developers over proposed street names/designations various changes were made including moving Elmwood Road eastward from its current northerly terminus near Elk Lake Boulevard (at what used to be Girdletown Road) towards Depot Street so that ELK residents living east off Depot Street could reach Elk Lake Boulevard without having to go uphill! There are currently plans underway for another road change with Elmwood Drive being moved further south towards Interstate 80 just past Tahoe Lakes casino， meaning even more business people will have access To Downtown Elk Falls without havingto go uphill!!
