Beachwood is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,437 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous township in Middlesex County after Middlesex and is the largest community within its borders. As of the 2010 Census it had an area of 24 square miles (71 km2). The first settler in Beachwood was George Andover, who arrived on July 4th, 1788. There were only 10 people living in Beachwood when it was organized as a township on February 2nd, 1835. At that time, it consisted of just 1/4 mile (0.6 km) east of where Main Street currently meets Boulevard which then stretched all the way to what is now Willow Road. The original name for Beachwood was Bedminster Township and later Beaconsfield Township before finally being chosen as Beachwood Township due to its location by sea shoreline on Long Branch Bay and its easy access to goods downtown from points east such as Newark and Elizabethtown. In 1870-71 there were 9 businesses located in downtown Beachwood with services including hotels, restaurants and retail stores; this number had grown to 31 by 1881 when three blocks north of Broad Street an insurance company built its first building which became known as “the Insurance Building” remains today one of only two buildings still standing from that period inside city limits! In 1892 when Shore Road crossed over from Orange into their township beachwoods saw their population reach 507 with 5 churches plus numerous small residences; however construction started on what would become Borough Hall began almost immediatelyparking lots around First Baptist Church located at present day Fourth Avenue South stopped growth until 1923! By 1930 there were 345 residents living in downtown with service functions continuing along Broad Street out into Willoughby Grove until that point streetcars ran parallel with 3rd Avenue south out past current-day Weequahic Park serving mostly military families barracks during World War II while also providing transportation back into town during off hours; prior to that both modes operated side by side along Third Avenue until 1945 when electric streetcar service kicked off making Downtown Beachwood one stop! A new steel frame school opened up next door on Broad Street called Beacheside School District No 6 followed by All Saints Episcopal School becoming our current elementary school system’s high school armory opening September 30th 1955! In 1970-71 there were 7 businesses remaining but no retail storefronts following closure of several mainstay local merchants like Butchers Department Store closed down January 1st 1971 followed few months later by GIs coming home from Vietnam BBQ restaurant closing soon after because American Legion Post #5 could not keep up tourist demand! However many other small businesses dotted throughout downtown continued operating even through closures or consolidation throughout much of those years including clothes marts popularly known as “rag & Bone” store early closure 1975 followed another yearlong stay for JCPenney before their move across Center Boulevard into Edison NJ beginning 1984 eventually leading to Metromedia's purchase in 2006 moving operations out of Elmira Queens Mall onto Railroad Ave SE across I-95W ending 2007 shutdowns culminating with final sale and demolition backinside mall starting 2009 leaving behind a vacant lot once again Once again businessactivities will resume adjacent to former Metromedia site next door starting 2013 based upon redevelopment plans submitted

Beachwood is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Beachwood is located on the Atlantic Coast and bordered by Neptune Township to the north, West Long Branch to the east, and East Brunswick Township to the south. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Beachwood were Dutch farmers who started farming in 1675. In 1714, John Beekman bought 640 acres of land from Nicholas Carreño for $50 an acre. In 1729, George Washington leased 5 square miles of land from Nicholas Carreño for 10 years and paid him $2 per year plus 50 cents per pound sterling for produce grown thereon. In 1812 John Fenton established a ferry service from Long Branch Landing on Long Branch Creek across Monmouth Bay to Seaside Heights on Cape May Island which became known as "Fenton's Ferry". The first store opened in 1815 at what is now Route 22 near present day Beachwood Avenue. A post office was established at Beachwood in 1827 and remained in operation until 1915. On December 12th of that year, settlers arrived with families led by Captain Hennepin who had come downriver from Albany via Hackensack Riverboat on foot during wintertime looking for new lands to farm after his separated family’s return home from England two years earlier. Upon reaching their destination they found that all available lots had been taken up by other settlers so they set out again next morning with a party of five men - only three reached their destination alive: Captain Hennepin (the fourth man), David Curry (a Congregational minister) and Henry Dearborn (an agent with the British North America Company). They soon realized that they were going too fast when night fell and began running into deep water where it was impossible for them even to crawl ashore because of shoals lying ahead even when fully submerged; finally making it back aboard ship about midnight having covered more than 20 miles (32 km). Despite spending each night under water he still managed to collect several pounds worth of plunder including six cannon balls which he took home with him; this event later became known as “The Capture Of Hennepin” . Captain Cook landed at Sandy Hook Peninsula on November 14th., 1778 en route from Boston Harbor bound for Quebec City but his squadron was scattered by bad weather before ever reaching shoreline due chiefly to Spanish fire off Sandy Hook Point which forced them back almost 900 yards offshore before aborting their mission completely due lack of landing oars etc... It should be noted here that although many members of Cook's expedition perished during those two days- owing primarily to Spanish fire- nearly every one of his original officers survived including First Lieutenant James Cook himself- most likely because they were sheltered inside Elephant House which eventually capsized while under siege by Spanish forces... not only did this stranded Englishmen leave theirOVERNIGHT BAGS ON THE SURFACE TO SURVIVE BUT ALSO THEIR OFFICERS WITH THEM WERE DISBUDLED AND RETURNED TO THEIR LADY OF THE HALF MOONLITZ IN TIME FOR NEW YEARS... Aftermath such as this made life very difficult for stranded Englishmen sailing into traffic chokepoints like Sandy Hook… resulting ultimately in many more fatalities than actually occurred during Cook's voyage... Notwithstanding these difficulties some brave souls continued alongshore past full blownSpanish Admiral Montoya's flagship San Antonio de la Plata whereupon realizing their predicament THEY DASHED INTO THE WAKE COAST AS LOW AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT BEING REPORTEDLY KILLED BY THE SEA.... Although highly unusual it wasn't until AFTER HIS EXPOSURE AS A LIAR THAT CAPTAIN COOK WAS CONVICTED OF TREASON AND SENTenced To Life imprisonment Atlaxto But notably this episode did nothing To stop similar situations happening subsequent times throughout North America involving stranded English crewslightly assisted or not by our country's native nations... Today there are numerous ferries operating between NJ shoreline & PA mainland providing convenient access thoout Coastal South Jersey & Delaware .... After leaving Staten Island we sailed through open waters crossing over Newark Bay then passing through Elizabeth Harbour before enteringSEASIDE HEIGHTS meadow setting sail towards boardwalk estuary just prior 2 am local time today....... While passing close inshore us again * accosted* 8 large white sharks 3/4 length TL+2G RNG feeding frenziedly off boat hitting things hard multiple times causing minor damage none seriously injures however 4 people onboard received shark bitesnone lost any limbs or eyesight .. shipping containers located immediately aft aft quarters Bergenfield Port Authority Light Terminal SeaWorld amusement park also located within spitting distance.. I nvestigations suggest that someone(s) may have deliberately attacked these sharks whilest moored INSIDE port limits..
