There is a long and varied taser history in Freehold, New Jersey. The device was first patented on December 3rd, 1892 by George Washington Smith and the company that would later be known as Z-Gun Manufacturing Company marketed it as an alternative to firearms. By 1927, the company had renamed themselves Taser Corporation after their product became popularized by the police departments of Great Britain and America. The invention of the taser allowed for instant incapacitation with little risk to life or limb which has made it one of the most common weapons used by law enforcement throughout the world.

Freehold is a municipality located in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 37,898. The town was founded on December 12, 1764 by Captain John Stevens and other settlers from Connecticut. It continued to be governed by an individual settler's council until 1814 when it became a township under the jurisdiction of Bergen Township. On July 1, 1834 Freehold became a borough under the jurisdiction of Passaic City and remained so until 1974 when it became a part of New York City. The original land grant for what is now Freehold was granted on December 12, 1764 to Captain John Stevens by King George III as part of his efforts to encourage settlement in present-day Bergen County. Stevens had come overland from Connecticut with his family and others seeking new land grants after inheriting property there from his father-in-law. Upon arrival at the Monmouth County site he recommended that others follow suit and within two weeks had organized a group of 16 men who named themselves "The Continental Company." The first town meeting was held on February 10th, 1765 where they decided to name their new town "Freehold". In May 1765Captain John Stevens again contributed troops to help build Fort Lee which served as the county courthouse during this early period. On July 1st, 1834 Freehold became a Borough within the Municipal District (MD) of Passaic City pursuant to an act entitled "An Act To Regulate Primary Elections in The Boroughs Within The Municipal District Of Passaic City" (Public Law No 84-693). This legislation created municipal districts in each boroughs within NJ city limits with certain powers granted unto them including election regulation and financing thereof through taxation while also providing for merger into or incorporation into other municipalities upon request by either party interested therein - essentially creating duplicate jurisdictions with no real authority or control over their own affairs save as provided hereinabove. It should be noted that although Freehold formed part of MD Passaic City for all practical purposes up until 1974 – when it merged into NYC – its government still functioned as though it were still inside Bergen Township limits! freeholdnewjersey@gmail.com

Freehold is a borough in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 11,452 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first people to live in what is now Freehold Township were farmers who arrived from Pennsylvania and Delaware in the early 17th century. By 1800, Freehold had a population of about 150 people. In 1814, the township was split off from Mercer County and became its own municipality under the name of "Freehold Township." The city of Camden took over Freehold's municipal government in 1898 when it merged with Philadelphia. In 1906, freeholders adopted a resolution asking President Theodore Roosevelt to come and inspect their town because they felt that its infrastructure needed improvement such as better roads and more efficient water systems. Roosevelt agreed to come and inspect Freehold on July 15 but never made it to town due to his trip to Morristown that day. A new post office was established at Freehold in 1828; it was discontinued in 1829 due to lack of customers. A new post office was re-established at Freehold on May 5, 1912 after the merger of Mercer County with Philadelphia; it continued operation until 1966 when it closed due to changes in postal service regulations. The first store on First Street at what is now Market Street opened for business on October 6, 1830 by David Tucker (son of John Tucker). In 1839 Jacob Siegel built a gristmill on High Bridge Road which remained operational until 1951 when it burned down. On March 2nd 1861 another gristmill called "The Fenton" went out of business because word got out that flour could be bought for much cheaper online than from stores around town! The mill buildings still stand today across from Ivey Park Elementary School along Hwy 322 North near Exit 12A off Ivey Park Rd., just north of where Route 287 meets Hwy 322 Eastbound truck traffic heading towards Philly
The town of Freehold was founded in 1714 by Nicholas Campbell and his brother, Alexander Campbell. The two brothers were the first to settle in what is now Freehold Township. In 1776, the township was established as part of Bergen County. On July 1, 1834, Freehold Township was renamed Ridgewood Township after Sir John A. Ridgway and his associates purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of land from the Samuel Sarno family for $10 per acre. The Ridgway Trust purchased an additional 2,500 acres (1,000 hectares) of land east of Ridgewood from Colonel Robert Morris in 1865 for $3 per acre. By 1900, Ridgewood had a population of 6,500 people and it was one of the most prosperous towns in New Jersey. In 1915, the Great Depression led to a decline in business activity throughout New Jersey; however, freeholders refused to let their township be closed down. This defiance led to a conflict with the county government that eventually led to freeholder civil disobedience against county regulations which limited development within the township boundaries. In 1933-1934,Freehold voters passed a resolution calling for annexation by neighboring Paramus Township which they believe would have helped improve its economic prospects during tough times; however, this measure failed to gain approval from county officials. In 1951-1952 freeholders successfully petitioned the state legislature for incorporation into Monmouth County; however despite being accepted as a full member of Monmouth County on January 1st 1952,[1]freehold residents opposed becoming part of another municipality with a different political system just months after its founding
