Oneida, New York was founded in 1786 by John Jacob Astor and his family. The town became a center for manufacturing optical equipment and accessories such as telescopes, microscopes, and binoculars. In the 1920s, Oneida became one of the first cities in America to prohibit advertising on its streets. As a result, local merchants developed an extensive trade in optical products. During World War II, Oneida's factories produced military optics including sniper rifles and night Vision goggles. In 1949, Oneida became home to the world's first electronic microscope when Radio Corporation of America (RCA) purchased the rights to produce a model known as the "Atom microscope." Today, Oneida is home to several hundred businesses that sell optical products from a variety of brands including Leica, Olympus and Nikon.

Glassmaking began in the early 1800s in Oneida County, New York, and continued to be a important industry until the mid-19th century. The first optical instruments were created in the 18th century by Dutchmen who imported Chinese optics from China. In 1794, Nicholas-Jacques Conte designed an instrument known as the " Gravenstein microscope." This device was used to study different types of cells and tissues.
Oneida is a small town in the Adirondacks of New York State, United States. It is located on the north side of the Finger Lakes and bordered by Canandaigua to the east, Oneida Lake to the south, and Whiteface Mountain to the west. The population was 5,584 at the 2010 census. The name "Oneida" is derived from one of its original settlers, Peter Onondaga (1760-1837), who landed there in 1798 with his family after traveling through Canada. Oneida's first post office opened in 1802. The community started as a trading post on an arm of Oneida Lake. In 1824 it became a village when land was donated for that purpose by Captain John Simcoe and others in honor of General George Washington. In 1827 Oneida became part of Speedwell County when that area was formed from parts of Tryon and Montgomery counties. In 1840 Oneida voted to become part of Clinton County; but because it adjoined Ontario County on its eastern border, it reverted back to Speedwell County after Clinton became an independent country. By 1870 Oneida had reached its peak population with over 10,000 residents; but within few years that number had plummeted to 681 due mostly to factors such as Disease brought over by immigrants or people leaving for other places during the American Civil War (the war directly caused many deaths in New York). Nevertheless, by 1880 Oneida still boasted a high school and six churches serving 469 residents—a rate three times higher than what existed in nearby Canandaigua. However, mining activity began declining rapidly throughout much of the late 19th century due largely to competition from more efficient methods being developed abroad or simply because prices for minerals were increasing so rapidly everywhere else at this time – making mining Unprofitable even for those who could afford it! The history of optical accessories is long and varied. From the early days of optics, when instruments were composed of lenses and mirrors to today's high-tech devices that include microscopes, telescopes, and holographic imaging equipment, there have been many advances in optical technology. Some of the earliest optical devices were made from animal eyes, such as a mirror used by Aristotle to view objects in three dimensions (see Figure 1). In addition to animals, other sources for creating or using optical instruments came from glass blanks used in scientific investigations (Figure 2). The first practical complete set of eyeglasses was created by Nicholas-Jacques Conte in 1795. These glasses had a metal frame with a lens at one end and an armillary sphere at the other. By 1830, eyeglasses had become widely accepted as standard equipment for most people. One important advance during this time period was the development ofinar wavefronts or "eyeballs." A person's visual field is shaped like a cone around their face so that any object within that cone will be seen clearly (See Figure 3). This ability was first developed by an Italian scientist named Antonio Doppler in 1868 while working on what would later be called polarized light. However, it wasn't until 1892 that John Atkin discovered how to make white light with only two colors instead of five (See Figure 4). This discovery led to the creation of television which we use today to watch movies and TV shows. Optical devices also underwent some major changes during World War II when persecution against Jews led to the development of radar and photography along with new ways to produce light! While declining sales during the 1990s may have contributed to technological stagnation during this decade, recent innovation has brought about continued improvements in both precision and performance throughout all types of optics including holography/optics/theory/implants etc., making it likely that future advancements will continue along these lines as well.

Oneida has been called the "Queen of the Hudson Valley" because of its many natural resources and its political power. The town was founded in 1786 by Aaron Burr and his wife Catharine Beecher Burr. Oneida is located on the north side of the Hudson River, about 12 miles east of Albany, New York. The Burr family had a significant role in early oneida history as farmers and traders who traded with Native Americans for goods such as flour, tobacco, maize, shellfish and beads. In 1807, Catharine Beecher Burr married Alexander Hamilton (1755–1828), son of James Hamilton (1714–1792) and Deborah Madock (1749–1826). With this marriage came increased power for Oneida due to their connections to New York's powerful political families. Throughout much of 19th century Oneida remained an agricultural community with modest industry until it began to industrialize during World War I when mills were built to produce munitions for the war effort. After World War II oneida experienced rapid growth as businesses expanded into new industries such as food processing and real estate development. Today Oneidas economy revolves around its rural heritage with farms providing primary employment while also enjoying access to many local cultural attractions including art galleries, music festivals, antique stores and hiking trails.
Oneida was founded in 1776 by a group of English settlers who had arrived in the region as part of the British North America Company. The town became an important center for trade and commerce during the Revolution, and played a significant role in the development of New York City. Oneida was also home to several notable politicians and entrepreneurs during the 1800s, including John D. Rockefeller and Cyrus McCormick.
