The Pines are a large and populous area in the eastern United States. They are situated on the east coast of North Carolina, between Charlotte and Raleigh. The population was estimated to be over 350,000 in 2010. The Pines were first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in the early 1800s. They began to grow rich from agriculture and mining during the late 19th century.Today, the Pines are an important economic center for eastern North Carolina. Their forests provide valuable logging resources, as well as food for deer, turkey, and other game animals. The Pines also support a number of cultural activities, including golfing and fishing tournaments.
There are a vast number of different types and styles of optical accessories available today. This diversity is due in part to the history of these products. Some components that have been used for centuries were originally designed to improve vision, such as eyeglasses and prismatic lenses. In addition, new technologies have come into play in recent years that has made it easier to produce quality optical products. One example is the use of nanotechnology in product design which allows for even more delicate components to be used within an optic system. Additionally, advances in technology have led to the development of new materials and devices that can improve overall performance and accuracy when using optical accessories.
The first optical accessories were tools that could help with sightseeing or photography. These early tools included eyeglasses, telescopes, and otheroculars.
Southern Pines, North Carolina is a small town located in Buncombe County, North Carolina. The population was 2,717 at the 2010 census. Southern Pines is the county seat and largest city of Buncombe County. Home to many farms and businesses that produce crops such as tobacco and cotton, Southern Pines has an active local community and a rich history dating back over 120 years. The area that now makes up southern pines was first settled by Europeans in the late 18th century. In 1776, General James Johnston's army occupied what is now Buncombe County during the American Revolution. The town of Orangeburg was founded nearby in 1784 by colonists who had fled from British rule in South Carolina. In 1839, Confederate General Robert Ewell invaded North Carolina while retreating from Battle of Bull Run; he encountered Union forces near Newtonville on November 9th. Lieutenant Colonel John Coker's brigade of Confederate cavalry attacked Union troops under Major General George Pickett while they were moving through southern pines detachment of Rebs Cavalry Regiment led by Captain Samuel Hurd. After fierce fighting, which lasted all night, Confederate cavalry emerged victorious and drove off Ulysses S Grant's advancing army into Durham County before withdrawing towards Roanoke Island for reinforcements. Today much of rural Buncombe County still retains its plantations from this time period including Long Shoals Plantation just outside of town on US-1W (the old alignment of I-85). Southern Pines enjoyed some prosperity during World War II due to its strategic location as a major airfield for the campaign against Japan: it played host to more than 100 military flights between 1942 and 1945 alone! However following the war Southern Pine lost much of its manufacturing base as companies relocated out to other parts of North Carolina or left for good altogether when production restrictions came about with new technology coming about after the war like television sets etc…. That said though there are no factories left operational today in Southern PineNC there are many places where you can find remnants or traces thereof from past industries…….. For example one spot you will find is Springdale Rd., just outside town off SR 721E it’s been referred to as “Pine Gap” because so many early pioneers here lived on topofthe hill overlooking Springdale Cemetery until their homes were taken down around 1940/50….. There’s also a small center built along SR 721E called “Downtown” …… so if you stop at any place along those routes you will see either a building or something left behind that once housed some sort of industry……………… So long story short Northern pine NC had too few things going for it post WW2 so most people moved away form here….. but some people did stay awhile till today………………….. And if you go out there today feel free to wander around without finding anything 🙂
Southern Pines is a town in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. It is on the Greenville-Spartanburg highway and is part of the Asheville metropolitan area. The population was 9,898 at the 2010 census. The first white person to live in Southern Pines was John McKnight who settled there in 1795. Southern Pines was platted in 1802 by Nicholas King and others as a donation from James Knoppers of Wilmington, North Carolina to the Cherokee Nation. In 1836, Southern Pines became known as "the Alma Mater" of Presbyterianism when Rev. Alexander Henderson moved his congregation there from Fayetteville, Tennessee. Southern Pines also served as an important airfield during World War II; it housed RAF Bentwaters (later RAF Fairford) until 1945 and was used by both American and British fighter aircraft before being abandoned for good in 1948. The town's only store closed down in 1984 but has been repopulated with new residents since then by various churches that have located there including First Baptist Church which opened its doors on May 4th 2006 and now operates as a grocery store with apartments above it called "The Bluff". Baptist pastor Drue Ingram began building what would become known as Ingram Place after moving into town from Raleigh seven years ago when he purchased land next door to First Baptist Church with plans to build an apartment complex that would house more than 100 homes pentagon shaped buildings measuring 50 feet wide by 25 feet high with fields taking up one side while housing lofts or apartments took up the other side. In late 2009/early 2010 some residents of Ingram Place started experiencing water damage coming out of their roof due to rainfall caused by Hurricane Floyd Junior followed soon thereafter by Hurricane Floyd which made landfall on October 15th causing extensive damage across much of eastern North Carolina making Northern Pines (and indeed all towns along I-40 east of Asheville) one of the most affected areas throughout that state along with Roanoke Island [I-81] which saw significant flooding]. A GoFundMe campaign was started online within 72 hours following landfall to help those impacted and has raised over $115,000 towards repairs thus far; however any additional funds collected will go towards complete restoration not just replacement!
