In 1911, Johnnie Mackintosh’s grandson Harry Wickersham established another shotgun manufacturing business in Beachwood which continued to produce firearms until 1986. During World War II, many residents of Beachwood supported their country by purchasing weapons and supplying them with ammunition. Many local businesses also contributed to this effort by producing munitions such as shipyards and foundries that produced explosives and other munitions necessary for wartime production. After the war ended, many of these businesses closed down or were taken over by larger companies who continue to operate today. Beachwood is a small town in the US state of Ohio. It is located in Lucas County on the southern shore of Lake Erie, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Cleveland. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 7,519. The name Beachwood was given to the area by German settlers who named it Weichsland after their farm there. The first people to live in Beachwood were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1638 and founded a trading post near present-day Delaware Park. They soon left for new settlements in what is now Ontario and Pennsylvania, but their descendants remain here to this day. In 1814, General David Hunter burned down much of our present-day village, including much valuable property belonging to John Dennison, one of the early settlers hereabouts. The burnt down buildings still stand to this day as part of the village green. During World War II many local men participated in military service including George Fenton who served at Iwo Jima and Okinawa; Al Stroud who fought at Normandy; Bud Shultz who was drafted into the US Army before being sent to Germany as an intelligence officer with 4th Infantry Division during World War II; Artie Kappeler from Beachwood also serving as an infantryman with Company A1/7th Infantry Regiment during World War II - he later became known as "The GI from Beachwood" because so many of his unit's members did not return home from combat).

Beachwood is a town in Columbiana County, Ohio, United States. The population was 2,818 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to come to Beachwood were French and Indian traders who established a trading post in 1786. In 1810, General John Greenfield founded the town of Akron after his victory over the British at Fallen Timbers Creek. The settlers here were primarily Methodists and Presbyterians who built log homes and platted their land out into townships in 1815-1816. In 1827, James Kapp donated 1/4 mile (0.8 km) of beach on the east side of Lake Erie for use as a public square. In 1830, Beachwood had a schoolhouse and one millrace with six flour mills spinning cottonense (a type of cotton gin). A sawmill was built on this stream in 1839; it became known as the "Saw Mill Road." In 1840-1841,erton Denny erected a large brick building which served as both the courthouse and jail for Beachwood until it was replaced by the current structure in 1865. In 1850-1851, George H Smith set up a gristmill on Niles Creek that became known as "The Smith Mill". It wasn't until 1886 when an electric plant was added to Beachwood's infrastructure that its economy truly took off. At that time many people fromAkron began working in nearby Canton because there was no other place they could go where they would have good pay and be able to provide their families with housing and food pantries during hard times. In 1916-1917, World War I destroyed much of northeast Ohio so much that many businesses closed down including most of those near Beachwood including The Smith Mill which reopened two years later but lost its luster due to competition from neighboring factories newly opened by war veterans such as Ford Motor Company . However some residents did manage to keep their businesses open like J & L Carpenters which continued operating despite being unable to build any new equipment due to lack of wartime materials available
Beachwood was founded as a small town in 1823, and rapidly grew into a thriving community of over 1,000 people. The town's commercial activity led to its nickname "The Hub of the Universe." In 1851, Beachwood became the first town in Ohio to be incorporated as a city. As the city developed, it attracted many businesses and residents who invested in new technology and other businesses.
