Gun targets have been a part of Fairfield, Ohio society for many years. The first target was erected in 1836 by Captain John S. White and his family. Captain White was the founder of the town and had a large rifle range in his home. The next year, Mr. John Boice erected a small target on the north side of Market Street. This target still stands today and is used by local children for fun. The first handguns were made in Fairfield in 1857 by two gentlemen named Brown and Wesson. These pistols were not very successful, but they did provide some amusement for residents of the town. In 1865, Major Augustus Gough built a small gun range on Main Street near where he lived with his family. This gun range became one of the most popular in the town and it continued to be used until it was destroyed in 1996. In 1903, Doctor Samuel Hargrave opened an orange grove located northeast of Fairfield along High Street between McCarty Avenue and Elmira Road. Drs Hargrave and Jno Pendergast operated this grove for many years until they sold it to Dr Robert Huyck in 1950. It is now known asthe Robert Huyck Orchard Historic Site withinFairfield Township limits."

Gun targets history in Fairfield, Ohio began with the opening of the first gun shop in the town on November 3, 1837. The shop was located at 4th and Park Streets. From 1840 to 1865, there were three more shops in Fairfield. The first real success with firearms came from the store of George Hogg on Cedar Street. In 1853, they imported a French rifle known as the Model 1853 which became very popular and helped spur innovation with firearms. In 1865, gun dealer James Wickersham opened up his business at 4th and High Streets and soon became one of the most important dealers in town. He was successful in importing guns from all over Europe and selling them to local residents. Eventually he closed his store but left a lasting legacy by starting what is now called “Wickersham's Gun Shop” which still stands today at 4th and High Streets.

Fairfield is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Fairfield County. The population was 54,594 at the 2010 census, making it the largest city in Fairfield County. The fairgrounds are located in the center of town and are home to many large events each year such as the Great American Agricultural Show and the Ohio State Fair.

Until the late 1800s, it was generally believed that gun targets were placed in positions that would minimize their chance of being hit. This difference in opinion likely had something to do with the fact that at that time guns were not as common and effective as they are now.

The first gun targets were created in 1795, with a breech-loading rifle called the Musket. The first gun target was a simple metal post with a circle inside of it. The aim of the rifle was to hit the circle, which would then shoot an explosive projectile out the back of the post. This proved to be very inaccurate and required some practice to be successful. In 1801, military engineers developed a new type of target that became known as a “conventional” target. A conventional target consisted of two posts: one at each end of a long platform. The platform had an inclined surface that could be aimed at by firing from one side or the other. When fired, both posts would automatically jump up and down, causing their respective projectiles to ricochet off the surface and fall into your hand or another individual’s lap! By 1813, all artillery units in Europe had been equipped with guns that could fire cannonballs and shot through hoops placed around them (called “horns”). As soon as these cannons started firing projectiles through hoops instead of just straight into the ground like traditional artillery weapons did, people began creatingGun Targets specifically for this purpose! Fairfield is a city in and the county seat of Fairfield County, Ohio, United States. The population was 25,873 at the 2010 census. The area now called Fairfield was first settled by European Americans in 1792 as part of the Northwest Territory. It became a town in 1825 and was incorporated as a city in 1872. The current name comes from its location on the Scioto River near its junction with the eastbound Interstate 75 highway. The history of Fairfield can be traced back to early 1800s when settlers began arriving in this area after General Anthony Wayne's War against Native American nations claimed much of what is now Ohio. Many of these early settlers were farmers who arrived here through military or civilian routes to escape Indian hostilities. They founded towns along the Scioto River such as Duncansville, Waverly Heights, and North Hill before settling permanently in Fairfield Township in 1825. These early pioneers built homes from logs gathered from local forests and used their skills to become successful businessmen and bureaucrats within their communities. The firstetta (a type of corn) was brought overland from Canada by wagonloads during this time period and soon became an important crop for many of these early settlers. In 1840, John Fenton founded the first distillery operation in what is now Fairfield Township; today it remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in town because of its unique architecture and antique bottles collection. By 1850, two-thirds of all grain grown in central Ohio was being processed into flour, feedstock for textile mills, or other products that were exported throughout America and Europe. This growth led to increased competition for jobs among these same businesses as well as new investment opportunities available outside of central Ohio due to transportation improvements made during this time period including railroads which connected different parts of America directly with each other insteadof havingto go through intermediate stops like Columbus! During this time period also saw dramatic changes take placewithintheOhio community itself withittenitionsbeginningtoform aroundtownsuch asthatwoulddefinetheurburning20thcentury: churches (Anglican/Catholic), schools (public/private), mercantile companies (such as Merchant Marine & Railroad Company), breweries (including several owned by George Washington Carver), restaurants (most notably Joe’s Pizza & Pastry Shop), bars/restaurants (such as Al Capone’s speakeasy Lounge & Buffalo Bill’s Wild Bunch Cafe),and new housing developments such as Houseman Estates located just east off I-75 north side near Dayton Airport

Fairfield was founded in 1796 by George Fairfield and his wife, Deborah. The first land sale took place on November 12th, 1796. The original town plat was filed on December 10th, 1796. On January 14th, 1800, the village of Fairfield incorporated as a borough within the township of Fairfield. On May 1st, 1801, the Township of Fairfield became an unincorporated community within the borough of Fairfield. On October 15th, 1825, a new courthouse was erected in what is now known as downtown Fairfield. It was also the first building to be built in that area. The courthouse served as the seat of government for the Borough ofFairfield until it was relocated to its present location on Main Street in 1922. The first post office opened in Fairfeldt on April 25th, 1827 and remained open until it closed on September 30th, 1907. For many years there was only one telephone line in town- which served all residents! In 1971 construction began on a new post office located off US Route 422 just north of downtown with service starting operations on October 1st 1971
