The Fairfield Museum of Natural History has a collection of microscopes dating back to the 1800s. One of the oldest microscopes in the museum is a German-made microscope, which was made in 1827. The microscope is still used today and is known as the “Krebs microscope” because it was used to study cancer. In 1876, a British manufacturer created a new type of microscope called an oil-luminescent microscope. This microscope allowed scientists to see objects that were otherwise difficult to see with normal instruments. The Fairfield Observatory was founded in 1887 by Dr. Orville A. Wright, a scientist and engineer who had studied at the University of Michigan. The observatory is located on the campus of the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The observatory is one of the few remaining astronomical facilities from Wright’s time at OSU.
Fairfield, Ohio is a small town located in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The population was 9,957 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The present-day community was organized on February 17, 1837, when a group of farmers and mechanics who had moved to Fairfield from Kittanning County formed the first government. At that time it consisted of just three dwellings and one store. In 1853, Fairfield attained township status, becoming one of twenty townships in Allegheny County. In 1859 it became a city under the name of McKeesport. On July 1, 1912, McKeesport merged with Fairfield to form an enlarged city with a population of 10,000 residents. The history of Fairfield has been colorful and its citizens have made some significant contributions to local culture and society - including such luminaries as inventor Jonas Salk and philanthropist George Foster Peabody - but there are no limits to what can be achieved when people work together for good in their community. During World War I, many German U-boats had devastatingly effective anti-ship guns that could disable Allied ships within minutes if they were not destroyed before they reached their target area. To counter this threat, Allied commanders developed ways to detect submarines using radio signals instead of visual sightings or sonar devices. One such device was the depthfinder receiver, which became known as a "sighting scope." In 1949, Edwin Hirsch developed what is now known as a "tilt-angle" sighting scope while working on his research into how best to use rifles with precision during combat scenarios. This innovation would eventually lead to modern day scope design principles; including designing scopes with multiple objectives (elements), tilt angle capabilities (to provide better rangefinding), and adjustable turrets (for adjusting windage and elevation) so that shooters can adjust their shots perfectly every time. Fairfield is a city in Fairfield County, Ohio, United States. The population was 26,865 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fairfield County. The name "Fairefield" originated from an early English use of the word " faire," meaning fair or beautiful. The first settlers of what is now Fairfield were Quakers who built their home on the banks of the Scioto River in 1795. In 1802, they established a town on the same site and named it after their meeting place in Philadelphia. In 1827, they moved to present-day downtown Fairfield and renamed it "Fairfield". The city's history began with its location on high ground on the Scioto River that commanded a strategic view of neighboring towns and villages. The area was populated by several cultures before European settlement arrived: the Hurons, Shawnees, and Potawatomi Indians lived there for centuries before being displaced by Europeans in the late 1600s. In 1800, John Jacob Astor bought land at what is now Park Row in downtown Fairfield from Chief Winnetou. He founded Astoria as a trading post near his new property and developed it into a small town with brick buildings used as stores and houses forAstor's employees. By 1830, most of Astoria had been destroyed by fire; only Fort Dearborn remain today as part of downtown Astoria.. Afterward, residents started building homes around central square where they could watch events taking place in their town without having to leave their homes.. In 1835, when Ohio became a state following Northwest Territory annexation by Indiana Territory (now Michigan), Fairfields citizens petitioned Congress to establish local government within their own city limits instead of being forced to join Indiana Territory under itsGovt.- This request was granted but no act followed until 1840 when Mayor Horace Day proposed creating municipal boundaries similar to those then existing within Cook County (Chicago). On November 5th 1840 Mayor Day laid out streetscape plans for what would become known as Park Row which has remained unchanged since then.. Upon becoming an unincorporated community he called it Euclid which anglicized to Fairfield during World War II .. During this time many businesses closed due to lack Of Money And Many People Lost Their Jobs So Many People Got united Against Roosevelt What We're Called FairsNowadays Back To normality But One Memory That Stayed Changed Was When Roosevelt Visited Our Community Thanks To Friends Who AgeeD Him Here . Today Our City Is Named After Him As Well
In 1814, the Ohio General Assembly authorized the erection of a school in Fairfield. The first Fairfield School was built on the current site of the County Courthouse in 1819. The building still stands and is used as a museum today. In 1828, Fairfield became the county seat of Hamilton County.
