The city was founded in 1857 by James Grove and his wife Sarah. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 25,898. In 1830, John J. Grubb settled near what is now Grove City; he built a cabin there that still stands today. In 1855, James Grove married Sarah Hightower and they moved to what is now Grove City from their original home in directory V1 (a town on Long Island) because they were afraid that if they lived anywhere else their children would be orphaned. They became parents to thirteen children before Sarah died in 1885 at the age of seventy-four years old. James Grove Sr., who had raised all his children himself since childhood, passed away two years later at the age of ninety-six years old. The Groves continued to live in their new home until James Jr.'s death in 1902; then Sarah's daughter Fannie took over management of the home until her death in 1935. After Fannie's death, management fell into disarray until 1944 when Mrs. Harry Franklin purchased it and began restoring it as an historical museum which she named after her mother Fannie Franklinn as part of her estate gift to the city limits

Grove City, Ohio is a city located in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 26,711 at the 2010 census and it is the largest city in Cuyahoga County by area. It is also one of the largest cities in Greater Cleveland, with a population of over 1 million as of 2013. Grove City was founded on October 25, 1814 by Joshua Griggs and his wife Nancy Butler Griggs. The name “ grove” originated from an old Indian name for a swamp or wetland which was near where they first settled. JoshuaGriggs had come to America from England in 1786 and he had surveyed land west of present-day Cleveland Heights before settling in what would become Grove City. The first store opened on November 3, 1814 in what is now the downtown core of Grove City. Grocery stores were very popular during this time because there were no post office or mail service within reach for most people, so customers had to purchase their goods directly from suppliers or retailers. The first school building was built on Elm Street across from current day State Fairgrounds in 1850/51 when Grove City became part of Xenia Township (now Mentor). In 1854/55, Groveland High School was moved to its present site along East Side Avenue just north of Court Road and east of Maple Street after funding deficits led to closure of many local schools due to lack Of course as more people started arriving into town (the Erie Canal made transportation much easier), services such as grocery stores and hospitals began appearing throughout town which helped contribute to growth even further! By 1860/61, all but two streets leading off Elm Street had been graded and named after trees that grew near where they currently stand including Main Street (now University Drive) which leads into downtown today! During this time period too there were numerous civic organizations such as the Elks Club (1860), First Methodist Church (1862), American Legion Post #2 (1864), Ancient Order Masons #1(1865)), Odd Fellows Lodge No 2 United PLC (1868) & Knights Templar No 6 United Masonic Lodge #3(1869) among others… each doing their own thing while various churches continued growing larger with additional property – eventually totaling over 200 acres by 1870! In 1872/73 however things changed when President Ulysses S Grant issued Executive Order 496 mandating all public schools be closed throughout Canada until proper arrangements could be made for educational purposes; this caused great upheaval not only within Grove City but also throughout Cuyahoga County! As a result many decide to return home rather than go back onto government assistance like they did prior; this left the nucleus for what would become known as “ groovecity” today! During World War I residential areas around Canfield Rd., West Side Ave., North Side Ave., Court Rd., Maple St., East Side Ave & South Side Ave were requisitioned for military use housing troops barracks etc.; however few homes actually remained standing due mostly because these areas were newly platted post-war decades ago without any previous historic context or infrastructure therein!! Most residents returned home once hostilities ceased although some still remain today thanks to efforts by various community organizations including Friends Meeting House USA who have conducted social services here since 1886!!! Today children playing outside learn about history while exploring features inside buildings related to local industries like brewing beer or fabricating widgets
