In 1851, a group of Ohio businessmen and farmers organized the National Rifle Association (NRA) in order to protect Second Amendment rights. The NRA’s first goal was to increase gun sales by educating people about the benefits of firearms. Over time, the NRA began working to make firearms more accessible and available to all Americans, regardless of income or credit score. The organization also pushed for responsible gun ownership and regulation. In 1966, the NRA helped create the Brady Bill in order to improve gun safety laws in America. The Brady Bill created a national database of firearm owners so that law enforcement could track any suspected crimes involving weapons. Today, the NRA is one of the most powerful organizations in America with over 600 million members across 50 countries.

Maumee, Ohio is a town in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 3,503 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Toledo metropolitan area. The first European to visit the area now known as Maumee was an American Revolutionary War soldier and explorer named George Washington in 1787. He named it for General Maumee (or Mahomet), an Indian chief who had helped lead British forces into battle against the Americans during the war. The town was founded on a small stream called "Wabash" by Captain John Ladd and his team of men in 1814. By 1825, it had located on what is now Delaware Avenue between Ontario and Erie Streets. A post office was established at Maumee in 1826, and remained open until 1893. In 1830, construction began on a gristmill that still stands today along Delaware Avenue near its current intersection with Summit Street. The mill produced flour for local markets until it closed in 1955; however, some artifacts from that era are still extant including butter churns and other tools used at the mill site today. Maumee experienced rapid growth after becoming one of several townships within Lucas County when it was organized as a county under Ohio Constitution Section 990 on November 1, 1896. Growth continued through annexation by neighboring Toledo Township (1911) and then Stroudsburg Township (1927). In 1950-51 additional township borders were set off to form Gahanna Township (1981), Lima Township (1993), Findlay Township (2003) and Sandusky Heights Municipal Corporation trusteeship effective October 1, 2006 which became part of Lucas County upon its creation from portions of Stroudsburg Township.,

Maumee, Ohio is a small town on the Maumee River in Medina County, Ohio. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The townsite was platted in 1814 by Nicholas Hough and James Purdy as part of a larger block grant to Nicholas's brother John Covington. The name "Maumee" was first used in 1825 when Nathaniel Dow bought land from Hough and Purdy. In 1830, Wm. Ladd purchased some land east of present-day Maumee and changed its name to Maumee Township in honor of his mother's birthplace in England (now London). The first Methodist church was built here in 1836 by Rev. George Whitehill. A post office has been located at Maumee since 1837. The town became an official municipality on March 4, 1907 with a population of 2,521 residents; it had previously been considered part of Medina County only because its ZIP code ran within that county's borders. In 1916 Alonzo Biddle founded the Biddle Furniture Company here which remains one of the most significant businesses downtown today and produces most of the furniture for residential use throughout central Ohio including parts for Quicken Loans Arena and Nationwide Arena as well as numerous other places across the United States and internationally such as London’s Wembley Stadium - home to English Premier League soccer matches -and two blocks away from where President William McKinley died during an assassination attempt on November 6th 1901 while attending a baseball game at Goodyear Park in Akron,OH (now known as FirstEnergy Stadium). The Maumee River was named for the village of Maumee, in present-day Ohio. The first European to visit the area was French explorer Father Jacques Marquette in 1796. In 1814, General George Washington traveled down the Maumee River as part of his Farewell Tour and called it "the most beautiful piece of water on earth." The river became a national highway in 1926.
