Gun lubrication has a long and varied history in New Franklin, Ohio. The first known reference to gun oil was found in a journal from 1814. That year, an article about the manufacture of barrels noted that “gun-oil” was necessary for making the barrel glide on the Firearms Establishment’s smooth bore targets. However, it is not clear how this oil got into firearms or why it was used so frequently. There are references to gun oil being used as early as 1798 when James Cookdocumented his use of “gunnel water” to clean his cannons. In 1827, a company called The Girdle Manufacturing Company marketed a small cartridge filled with gun-oil that could be fired by holding down the trigger while spilling some of the oil over the top. It is interesting to note that this cartridge never existed outside of fantasy and folklore until recently! In 1847, an article about rifle cartridges noted that they were often “gassed with powder and shot put into them; but no other addition is requisite than one quart of good kerosene per 1000 rounds made use of for this purpose” This indicates that kerosene had been around for quite some time at this point! It wasn't until 1875 that someone developed what would become known as modern ball bearings - these balls were made from copper and bronze alloyed with zinc which helped keep them cool and elasticity during use. Ball bearings were first introduced into artillery in 1876 when General John Jumper ordered 100 sets of these devices for his British cannonade forces! In 1898, an article about Guns & Ammo noted that there had been a recent resurgence in interest in using gun oils specifically because they now possessed antifreeze properties! This new development allowed guns to be cleaned more easily after being fired - something which would prove invaluable during World War I! 2 years later, another article appeared discussing how ball bearings could also be lubricated by adding motor oil (or grease) to their design! Interestingly enough, this decision proved unpopular because many people believed that such additives increased noise levels when firing reliable firearms! 3 years later still another article appeared discussing how various types of balls could also benefit from being lubricated with frog's blood (or other animal skin oils)! again, this decision met resistance because many people felt that using animal skins caused allergies or sensitivities among certain groups!? However, eventually Frog's Blood became popular due to its natural antibacterial property which helped prevent infection during shooting procedures. 4 years later yet another article appeared discussing how different types of projectiles can also need special attention when stored or transported - specifically mentioning how casks should always be locked when not in use lest moisture build up inside! This particular topic generated much discussion within the industry because many factors can affect projectile stability including temperature changes (-20 degrees Celsius), humidity (particularly high levels), wind speed (+10 knots!), etc!!!

The settlement was established on the Scioto River near present-day Portsmouth, Ohio. New Franklin developed into a small town with a population of around 100 people in 1802. It became an important stop on the Underground Railroad and experienced rapid growth during the 1830s when it became known as the " commercial center of the interior." In 1836, New Franklin was renamed Lancaster after Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The town's importance declined during the 1840s and 1850s as its residents switched to nearby Dayton to become more prosperous. In 1854, Lancaster merged with neighboring Newark to form New Newark. Today, New Franklin is a small community located about two miles north of Dayton on Interstate routes 60 and 71. Its economy is based primarily on agriculture and manufacturing.

The city limits were expanded in 1902 to include present day East Liverpool Township and parts of West Chester Township.
