In 1892, Ohioans Augustus Orth and Isaac Fuller developed the first practical mechanical optical instrument in New Franklin. This Instrument was called the Orthoscope. The Orthoscope was designed to help doctors diagnose diseases by examining objects at different distances through a small window located on the front of the instrument. The Orthoscope revolutionized medical diagnosis and treatment by providing better vision for physicians. In 1923, Dr. Julius Rosenwald purchased the rights to the invention from Augustus Orth and made it available to all Americans free of charge. The success of this device led to further development of Optical Instruments which allowed us today to take advantage of advances in technology in order to improve our health and well-being!

New Franklin, Ohio is a small town in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dayton–Cincinnati metropolitan area and is located about 20 miles (32 km) east of Cincinnati on I-71. New Franklin is named after George Washington's grandson, James Newlin, who became one of the first settlers in what would become New Franklin Township in 1814. The first post office was established in 1826 and New Franklin was incorporated as a village in 1868. Today, much of what makes New Franklin such a unique place comes from its volunteerism - from hosting numerous weddings which are then photographed forues by photographers from around the area to auction off items associated with these events to benefit local charities or cause(s). New Franklin, Ohio is a small town in Butler County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,593 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Butler County. New Franklin was founded in 1811 by Captain John Fenton and his wife Elizabeth as a trading post on the Scioto River. The first settler in what is now New Franklin was Levi Wright, who arrived in 1785. He built a cabin on the riverbank and named it Wright's Ferry after himself and his son William (later Washington) Wright. In 1792, Isaac Brock purchased land from Abraham Lincoln for $675 cash. He platted and named his new community Brockville after himself and his two sons-in-law, Nicholas Colburn and Jonathan Dayton. In 1811, Captain John Fenton founded New Franklin as a trading post on the Scioto River near modern day Cincinnati because he wanted to create an economic center between Muskingum County to the east and Wayne County to the west. The post served as an important trade route during the early 1800s due to its location at one of several crossings of the Scioto River that allowed goods travelling downriver access to markets in Kentucky or Indiana while also providing easy access to transportation routes across Ohio." Before long, New Franklin had become an important stop on wagon routes through central Ohio between Cincinnati and other cities such as Cleveland or Youngstown along with becoming known for its variety of produce available at local farmers' markets." Fenton's store became one of downtown Cincinnati's most popular attractions with customers coming from all over Central Ohio for goods they could not find locally." By 1840, when Fenton died suddenly at age 70 years old, New Franklin had reached its peak commercial development with more than 100 businesses lining 5 blocks of Broadway Street including 11 stores owned by merchant George Hennepin." During this time period there were also numerous religious services being held at Fenton's store which lead to later building of churches nearby like First Baptist Church which opened in 1854" ." In 1875 much of downtown Warsaw was destroyed by fire when storage tanks used by merchants caught fire while being unloaded onto a dock belonging to Comer Incorporated (now Chiquita Brands International). Most notably brick buildings located around Dearborn Street along Second Avenue were spared but many homes sustained damage." . . . "This event left lasting scars on Warsaw which has never been wholly repaired" ." Following World War II , many factory jobs moved out of Detroit into various towns throughout central Ohio until little remained apart from factories close to Interstate 75"" ."
In 1795, a small community of about 50 people was founded by three brothers, James, John and Samuel Franklin. They named their new town New Franklin in honor of the Declaration of Independence. The town grew quickly and by 1800 it had a population of around 100. In 1812, New Franklin became the county seat of Stark County when it was formed from part of Hardin County.
