The population of University Heights increased rapidly from its initial 100 residents in 1830 to 1,500 by 1840; however, during the late 19th century it steadily declined as Methodists came to dominate much of town life and new businesses began to open up in nearby North Center Township. However, due to their increasing influence and efforts to promote education within their churches and communities alike (particularly within Methodist circles), University Heights' population continued to grow until 1907 when it reached its current level of around 1400 residents. The last notable resident of University Heights was Mrs. Jennie Smeaton who left after her husband died in 1916 but left behind a legacy of civic activity which continues today including serving on several city councils and being an organizer for both Community Action Committee (CAC) and Akron Area Neighborhood Development Corporation (AANDC).
University Heights is a city in Lucas County, Ohio, United States. The population was 21,812 at the 2010 census. University Heights is located in the eastern part of the county and is bordered by Cincinnati to the north, Beechmont to the east, and Norwood to the south. The area that now makes up University Heights was first settled in 1814 when George Edward Houghton donated land to be used as a college for young men in what is today downtown Cincinnati. In 1827, John Pemberton bought into Houghton's college shares and helped it grow into one of America's first collegiate universities. Today, University Heights features several colleges including The Ohio State University (OSU), Campbell Community College (CCC), and Queen's Park Community College (QPCC). In 1950, when Interstate 75 was completed through Crawford County, much of what is now University Heights became part of that highway. With this change came increased development along I-75 as well as job opportunities for local people who had grown accustomed to being near downtown Cincinnati. Over time this has led to an influx of university students into town and an increase in businesses around I-75; making University Heights one of the most affluent communities in Lucas County. Today there are many restaurants and cafes lining Dayton Street between Highland Avenue and West Fifth Street; two shopping centers - One on Highbury Avenue just west of I-75 access Rd., across from WKSU & CUHB; several strip malls with stores such as Macy's/Gap/JCPenney/ Sears inside or adjacent properties - all clustered together on blocks bounded by Sixth Street NW., Highland Avenue NE., Fifth Street SE., US 50E./SR 5W./Spruce Road SW.; etc.; numerous small familyowned businesses dotting every nook & cranny; more than 15 full-time employed workers (& their families) utilizing 3 dozen short-term contract workers working various aspects of day-to-day operations! It can only be called "University Hills".

University Heights is an unincorporated community in Preble County, Ohio, United States. The community was founded in 1881 by J.C. Dearborn and his brother-in-law C.B. Mason as a farming village on the edge of a large agricultural area that now includes most of Preble County. The first school in University Heights was opened in 1884 by Mrs. Mason and her five children; it served as the only school until 1915 when a new high school building was built at the current location. In 1925, University Heights became part of the enlarged city of Dayton after it were merged with other nearby communities. In recent years, University Heights has experienced growth due to its close proximity to downtown Dayton and other major businesses and services within walking distance or car ride of its many residences and businesses. Recently, the town has embarked on several campaigns designed to promote municipal redevelopment, including an effort to have its police department relocated to new facilities co-located with the city's criminal justice center; development proposals for additional neighborhoods within town limits; and a campaign to increase public awareness of various local history events that are typically celebrated during summertime such as Fourth of July celebrations or farm fairs/fairs/community picnics
University Heights, Ohio was once a bustling township in the heart of Cleveland. It was founded in 1836 by Quakers and had a population of about 2,000 people. The town thrived for many years, but it gradually lost its importance as Cleveland grew larger. In 1892, University Heights became part of the new city of Cleveland. However, the township continued to exist until it was abolished in 1961.
