Wilmington is a city in Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 5,822 at the 2010 census. As Delaware grew rapidly during Reconstruction-era America, so too did its economy; by 1881 Wilmington had become one of America's largest iron ore mining centers with production totaling more than 2 million pounds annually! The city’s success led to challenges such as race riots that occurred throughout American cities during this period; however, through hard work and public education efforts spearheaded by Mayor Joseph Alderwald (1886-1912), Wilmington avoided any major tragedies or social turmoil. As post-war America continued growth rates stalled overall beginning around 1970–1980[13], many lost hope for revitalization or revival within their adopted hometowns due largely to converging socioeconomic trends across racial lines: African Americans moving outstripping whites [14],[15]; decreasing birth rates among white working class families [16]; increasing poverty among inner city residents [17]; increased crime rates throughout innercity neighborhoods becoming more violent starting about 1980 []; gentrification spreading outward from historically black areas experiencing increased housing costs [+18],[19]; etc.—all signs pointing towards declines unprecedented since 1930s innercity neighborhoods began experiencing dramatic changes not only politically but also economically—-leading eventually to displacement/disappearance of thousands if not millions over several decades! But things changed radically once again when then Mayor Michael Nutter formed his administration late night on November 3rd 2009 initiating ambitious plans known as “The Recovery Agenda” which included creating nearly one million new full-time equivalent jobs statewide within two years ($24 billion dollars); investing almost $100 billion into state government assets since 2007 (+$5 trillion total value since 2007); authorizing construction of approximately 600 miles (1120 kilometers) worth of transportation projects; legalizing gambling; significantly increasing funding for community programs such as housing assistance & job training; bringing back streetlights; etc.?
